The simplest on-chip circuit that can be conceived is for differential OCP measurement, although complex electrostatic discharge protection needs to be incorporated. [Pg.185]

Tuned Conductive Coatings. One of the major uses of conductive polymer coatings is in electrostatic discharge protection. For effective electrostatic discharge protection, the ideal situation is one wherein the electrical charges are dissipated nearly as rapidly as they are generated. In order to do this effectively, the surface resistance of the packaging material should be less than 10 ... [Pg.177]

After lapping, the sliders will be cleaned, and then a passivation film of diamond-like carbon (DLC) will be deposited on the surfaces of sliders through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to protect the pole area from chemical-physical corrosion and electrostatic discharge attack. Corrosion in pole areas will result in loss of read/write functions. A corrosion test was taken to examine the ability of the sliders polished by different slurries as shown in Table 6. It can be seen that the MRR change rate of the sliders polished by UFD slurry is much less than that polished by the slurry T5qre III, that is, the capability of anti-corrosion of the former is much better than that of the latter. [Pg.263]

The next generation electrical contact materials based on bismuth-silver compositions are suitable for automobile sectors, since they do not weld or arc under heavy loads. The unique conduction properties of bismuth have led to the production of plastics with a built-in shielding protection against electromagnetic or radio-frequency interferences and electrostatic discharge which create serious disturbance to the electronic equipment around us. [Pg.15]

As mentioned above, sensitive electronic products require protection from electrostatic discharge (ESD). In unmodified plastics, ESD is a significant problem, since the nonconductive nature of plastics causes them to easily accumulate static charges. Consequently, when plastic packaging is used for sensitive devices, it must be modified to make it less susceptible to charge buildup, and to provide for dissipation of any charges that are created. Both of these are accomplished by providing a conductive path for electrons. [Pg.351]

The synthesis of polyaniline can be carried out in aqueous HCI solution, by electrochemical oxidation, or in the presence of a chemical oxidant such as ammonium persulfate. The different forms of polyaniline can then be obtained by altering the current or the pH of the solution. The ability to tailor the process increases the potential for commercial application where the unique properties of a certain polyaniline are desired. Polyanilines are used as corrosion inhibitors and in the electromagnetic shielding of circuits, where they can protect against electrostatic discharge. [Pg.1239]
