Electrophoretic studies

There are other, nonhydrogel, new materials for chromatographic and electrophoretic separations [7,8,103,164,199,214,377,407], Eor example, Volkmuth and Austin [407] proposed electrophoretic studies in microlithographic arrays of posts and channels etched into sihcon wafers. This material may be useful for studying fundamental transport characteristics of macromolecules in defined media, and many recent studies have been conducted to develop chromatography and electrophoresis on silicon wafers with micron-scale channels... [Pg.542]

In normal breast epithelium the type I keratin K17, which was identified by Moll et al. (1982b) by early gel electrophoretic studies as a major keratin of basal cell carcinomas of the skin, shows a similar distribution in breast epithelium as K5... [Pg.112]

Partially purified preparations of guanine aminohydrolase (EC 3.5.4.3) have been reported from rabbit liver (68,186), rat liver (61), Clostridium addwrici (187), rat brain (60, 188, 189), and lingcod muscle (190). The rat brain enzyme (60) occurs in both the mitochondrial and supernatant fraction the latter fraction yielded two forms, A and B from DEAE-cellulose, which were subsequently purified 70- and 600-fold, respectively. Form B had a specific activity of 290 /unoles/min/mg. Kinetic, immunochemical, and electrophoretic studies revealed that the mitochondrial enzyme was distinct from supernatant enzyme B. A distinction between the supernatant A and B forms was less certain (60). [Pg.76]

Electrophoretic studies (G2, M2) have shown that both types of bilirubin are bound to albumin and sometimes a-globulin. Klatskin and Bungards (K6) found that this binding occurs between pH 6 and pH 9 and that below pH 5 separation occurs almost completely with respect to bilirubin but only partially with the conjugated pigment. This suggests that bilirubin and conjugated bilirubin are attached in different ways to plasma proteins. [Pg.274]

They have found by electrophoretic studies that the stability constants of the two binding sites in ovotransferrin and human serum transferrin are equivalent. By proton magnetic relaxation rate measurements, they also found that the binding sites of ovotransferrin and human serum transferrin acted independently. [Pg.200]
