Ecstasy physical effects

Physical effects of high doses of ketamine include decreased respiration and heart rate, increased blood pressure, and the possibility of vomiting and convulsions. These can lead to cardiac and respiratory arrest, coma, and death. The risk of ketamine overdose is much greater when it is mixed with other drugs such as alcohol, Ecstasy, caffeine, or cocaine. Overdoses of ketamine have been reported when people boost the drug (take another dose before the first dose wears off) to prolong its psychedelic effects. 

Ecstasy causes a wide variety of physical effects soon after it is ingested. Users can become overexcited, nervous, and dizzy. A person s heart rate can increase to dangerous levels. The authors of the second case reported that five such cases have been reported in the past 4 years in the British literature the respiratory complications were thought to be due to severe physical exercise or secondary to vomiting. It is therefore possible that this complication may not be due to a direct effect of MDMA, but rather a consequence of repeated Valsalva maneuvers associated with the dance habits of ecstasy users or vomiting induced by the drug.

Tenamfetamine ( ecstasy, MDMA methylenedioxymethamphetamine) is structurally related to mescaline as well as to amphetamine. It was originally patented in 1914 as an appetite suppressant and has recently achieved widespread popularity as a dance drug at rave parties (where it is deemed necessary to keep pace with the beat and duration of the music popular names reflect the appearance of the tablets and capsules and include White Dove, White Burger, Red and Black, Denis the Menace). Tenamfetamine stimulates central and peripheral a-and p-adrenoceptors thus the pharmacological effects are compounded by those of physical exertion, dehydration and heat. In susceptible individuals (poor metabolisers who exhibit the CYP450 2D6 polymorphism) a severe and fatal idiosyncratic reaction may occur with fulminant hyperthermia, convulsioirs, disseminated intravascular coagulation, rhabdomyolysis, and acute renal and hepatic failure. Treatment includes activated charcoal, diazepam for convulsions, P-blockade (atenolol) for tachycardia, a-blockade (phentolamine) for hypertension, and dantrolene if the rectal temperature exceeds 39°C. 

The euphoric feelings don t last for long. After the high, Ecstasy produces a "burnout" effect. A user "crashes," or tends to feel tired, sore, and both mentally and physically sluggish for a day or two after taking the drug. 

There are many physical and psychological effects associated with 2CB. Users may become psychotic, especially if they already have an underlying psychological disorder. Some people also experience panic attacks. Like Ecstasy, 2CB raises the body temperature, often to dangerous levels. Users also may suffer from diarrhea, cramps, and gas, as well as nausea and confusion.
