Environmental durability

To assure internationally competitive Danish products in terms of price, durability, environmental and technical feasibilities. [Pg.91]

Durable, environmentally compatible, and cost-effective protective coatings that eliminate or significantly reduce corrosion. [Pg.24]

Durability. A primary factor in sealant durabiUty is its abiUty to resist decay from environmental elements. For most typical appHcations this includes extremes of high and low temperature, water, oxidation, and sunlight. [Pg.309]

As core and facesheet surface preparation became more environmentally durable, the need to fully enclose the core waned. The open square-edge de-... [Pg.1176]

The potential durability of a coating system can be realized only if it is applied to a suitably prepared surface, in the correct manner under correct conditions. Painting differs from any other industrial processes in that it is not susceptible to operator abuse or adverse environmental influences throughout all stages of the work. [Pg.135]

Environmental impacts in the use phase dominate the profile. Products with high durability and which go through many cycles of use are found in this category. Examples include automobiles, dishwashers and laser printers. [Pg.51]

Improve the durability of the product so that the financial and environmental costs of replacement and disposal are reduced. [Pg.56]

Durability. Durability can be a useful way of improving eco-efiiciency. A product that has a long useful life minimises the impact per unit of service in the overall life cycle. However, there needs to be a balance, as a durable product with a poor environmental performance may block the introduction of a more eco-efficient technology. In many cases, governments have been driven to use fiscal incentives to encourage the adoption of a more environmentally friendly product because of the installed base of older but durable technologies. [Pg.59]

It is anticipated that the new, environmentally friendly technology designed by Headwaters for H2O2 production will soon replace the current anthraquinone process because of the high activity, selectivity, and durability of the novel nanocatalyst. [Pg.40]

Concrete is a composite material composed of cement paste with interspersed coarse and fine aggregates. Cement paste is a porous material with pore sizes ranging from nanometers to micrometers in size. The large pores are known as capillary pores and the smaller pores are gel pores (i.e., pores within the hydrated cement gel). These pores contain water and within the water are a wide variety of dissolved ions. The most common pore solution ions are OH", K+ and Na+ with minor amounts of S042" and Ca2+. The microstructure of the cement paste is a controlling factor for durable concrete under set environmental exposure conditions. [Pg.285]
