In the continuous process for producing phosphatidylcholine fractions with 70—96% PC at a capacity of 600 t/yr (Pig. 5) (16), lecithin is continuously extracted with ethanol at 80°C. After separation the ethanol-insoluble fraction is separated. The ethanol-soluble fraction mns into a chromatography column and is eluted with ethanol at 100°C. The phosphatidylcholine solution is concentrated and dried. The pure phosphatidylcholine is separated as dry sticky material. This material can be granulated (17). [Pg.101]

There are some alternatives to this HCI generator type of crystallization. There are, of course, canisters of HCI gas that can be purchased. Also, one can crystallize with very concentrated (fuming) HCI by pouring the stuff directly into the ether/freebase [26]. Regular 35% HCI can do this too, but the water content may dissolve the MDA.HCl or make the crystals sticky which means that the chemist will have to dry the solution by removing the water. [Pg.249]

The actual name dry scrubbing was first publicized by Teller [U.S. Patent no. 3,721,066 (1973)]. He worked both with classical Army-type soda-lime and with his patented water-activated form of the alkaline feldspar nepheline syenite as a flow agent and feedstock sorbent for HF and SO9 in hot, sticky fumes from glass melting furnaces. He claimed capture of more than 99 percent of 180 ppm HF and SO9 for more than 20 hours in a packed bed of 200 X 325 mesh hydrated nephehne syenite at 42,000/hr. [Pg.1599]

Implicit in cake filtration is the removal and handling of solids, since the cake is usually relatively dry and compacted. C es can be sticky and difficult to handle therefore, the ability of a filter to discharge the cake cleanly is an important equipment-selection criterion. [Pg.1708]
