Unifying disparate information sources into a single data model is an intrinsically difficult process. Even when the same kinds of information are collected in different places, it is done so for different reasons, which are reflected in data organization. A common example is extraction of information from scientific literature, where the goal is to make a collection of a particular kind of data. Since the origins of the data are research papers, such efforts often result in document databases where the article is the primary entity and the content is represented by various attributes (e.g., lists of referenced molecules). However, a document-oriented database is rarely suitable for the specific requirements of most scientific investigations. Such efforts often invert ... [Pg.245]

Excellent chemical information from the use of chemical shifts and satellite structure in conjunction with a well-documented database on standard compounds. [Pg.29]

Also, the design practice includes P ID documentation, database specification and verification of purchased equipment, control design and performance analysis, software configuration, real-time simulation for DCS system checkout and operator training, reliability studies, interlock classification and risk assessment of safety instrumented systems (SIS), and hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies. [Pg.37]

In addition, the ILO publishes statistical, legal, and bibliographic materials in both printed and interactive electronic forms. The Yearbook of Labour Statistics also exists in the form of a database (LABORSTA). The ILO journal. International Labour Review, features current policy analysis on employment and labor worldwide, and the ILO also publishes the magazine World of Work and The Bulletin of Labour Statistics. As noted below, the ILO publishes other documents, databases, CD-ROMs, and videos. [Pg.2917]

Mossbauer Information Exchange (MIX) is a project of the KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics, Budapest, Hungary. It includes an e-mail list, archives of programs and other documents, databases, current information and relevant links, all accessible through their world wide web site (http //www.kfki.hu/ mixhp/). [Pg.242]

Mathematical model calculations using verified models and well documented databases. Although these models are very complex, it was possible to develop computer programs and fill databases with a reasonable effort. This program, linked into the daily creation process of the flavourist allows a prediction of the adjustment of a composition for different food applications. [Pg.403]

Sigrist C. J. A., L. Cerutti, N. Hulo, A. Gattiker, L. Falquet, M. Pagni, A. Bairoch, and P. Bucher. 2002. PROSITE A documented database using patterns and profiles as motif descriptors. Briefings in Bioinformatics 3 265-74. [Pg.36]

The definition of a business process produces the need to report information through a document, database or any other format. These "documents" are windows onto the information resources of the organization and should be structured into... [Pg.40]

Experience carrier A document, database or piece of hardware that represents the company s collective experiences and governs its activities and decisions. [Pg.376]

The MUSE system is composed of several hundred SPARC 5 workstations, two UNDC-based NFS file servers, a UNIX-based server for the ORACLE MUSE document database (containing both document and structure data), and a number of Postscript printers, all linked through a local area network. [Pg.287]

The basic information flow for the CAS document database manufacturing system is illustrated in Figure 23. [Pg.287]

After these steps are complete, all of the data for the document resides on the document database. Every week, all of the document records that are complete and that have passed all machine edits are selected for inclusion in printed Chemical Abstracts and the CA and CAplus files. The selected documents are sorted into CA section and subsection number order and then CANs (Chemical Abstracts numbers) are assigned to each document. This data is then fed into a Xyvision publication system to produce printed Chemical Abstracts. These pages are then sent to a printer for production of Chemical Abstracts. The same data is also added to the CA and CAplus databases... [Pg.289]
