In over 35 years of teaching he has been a faculty member at the University of Colorado, Boulder Parkland College (Illinois) and the University of Illinois where he served as Professor and Associate Head and Director of Undergraduate Programs in Chemistry until he became Professor Emeritus in 2003. In 1994 Dr. Zumdahl received the National Catalyst Award from the Chemical Manufacturers Association in recognition of his contribution to chemical education in the United States.

Joseph F. Louvar retired as director of BASF s Chemical Engineering Department to become a professor at Wayne State University, specializing in chemical process safety, risk assessment, and the design of experiments. He has authored many publications on process safety and chairs the Undergraduate Education Committee of the CCPS. 

Pieter J. Milne was born in Caledon, South Africa in 1955. He completed his undergraduate studies in 1977. After working for 5 years as a pharmacist, he pursued his Masters and doctoral studies under the direction of Dr. L. M. Gerritsma and Professor D. W. Oliver, respectively. In 1994, he was appointed as a lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Port Elizabeth, now known as the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). He became head of the Department of Pharmacy in 2007 and is also the director of the Cyclic Peptide Research Unit (CPRU). 

Originally, Walker was a chemist but he rapidly realized when he was an undergraduate that he was actually interested in biology. At the time of our conversation he had already officially left the LMB and had been appointed director of an independent MRC unit in an adjacent building, involved with nutrition. They want to use molecular techniques to study problems of human nutrition. This is not very far away from his interest in mitochondria and he will be continuing with the research teams that he had developed at the LMB. One of their research projects links directly to the basis of obesity in man. This is a human nutritional problem that they want to apply molecular techniques to. 

From 1926 until the Second World War, he developed the biochemical service at the Royal Infirmary. At the same time he evolved undergraduate courses in medical biochemistry. In 1940, he was appointed Honorary Director of the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland Blood Transfusion Service and later became its Chairman. During the Second World War he was a member of the Medical Research Council s Blood Transfusion Research Committee and Adviser to the Polish Red Cross Institute of Blood Transfusion. As a result of this latter work, and his role in relation to the Polish Medical School, he received the honor of Polonia Restituta from the Polish Government-in-exile. 

Mary Kamienski, PhD, RN, FAEN, FNP, CEN, is the Director of the Center for Lifelong Learning at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Nursing, and teaches advanced practice and undergraduate registered nursing students.
