Undergraduate programs

Another option that the student should consider is completing an internship as part of the undergraduate program or summer employment in the chemical industry. Some colleges require an internship as part of their programs. There are many advantages to... [Pg.329]

The first part of my presentation focuses on UMBC s Meyerhoff undergraduate program. In the latter part, I will tell you about our more recent efforts to develop a biomedical graduate training program that is modeled after the undergraduate program. [Pg.52]

Although the Meyerhoff undergraduate program was opened to all students in 1996, we still have 71 percent participation by African Americans, 14 percent by Asian students, and only 12 percent by Caucasians. UMBC has worked hard to make certain that the original focus would be maintained, in part... [Pg.52]

Since 1993, we have graduated 234 students. We have over 200 students currently enrolled. Ninety-one students out of the total graduates are enrolled in Ph.D. programs, and 22 are in M.D./Ph.D. programs. So almost 60 percent of students out of this undergraduate program are now in Ph.D. programs. [Pg.57]

I have managed an undergraduate program with NSF help. We pay for a lot of the staff out of the university s money. In fact, the program is continuing with the assistance of the university s money. The amount of money that is spent on the student, not counting tuition but just to pay the students for the summer, is about 6,000 per year. You do need a lot of money. [Pg.64]

In over 35 years of teaching he has been a faculty member at the University of Colorado, Boulder Parkland College (Illinois) and the University of Illinois where he served as Professor and Associate Head and Director of Undergraduate Programs in Chemistry until he became Professor Emeritus in 2003. In 1994 Dr. Zumdahl received the National Catalyst Award from the Chemical Manufacturers Association in recognition of his contribution to chemical education in the United States. [Pg.1183]

Undergraduate programs in library science are designed to prepare students for positions which require a knowledge of library routines and techniques. They provide knowledge and skill in library methods, not alone to prelibrary students but also to undergraduates who may profit by such instruction. [Pg.24]

Undergraduate Program of the Durham University, UK, as shown on their website. [Pg.4]

The following five short screenplays present a cross section of student work at New York University. All the scripts have been produced and exhibited. Four of the scripts were written in the undergraduate program and one in the graduate program. One is the product of a collaboration. We chose these scripts for their quality and diversity in subject matter and approach. [Pg.257]

An undergraduate program in chemistry prepares the gronnd for many possible career paths, inclnding indnstry, gradnate work, and professional programs. [Pg.196]

The energy balance approach to fluid flow problems is developed before the momentum balancejis introduced. This leads to a very simple and logical development of Bernoulli s equation and an intuitively satisfying treatment of fluid friction. In the undergraduate program at the University of Utah, the... [Pg.571]

Action Offer more authentic practice-based engineering experiences such as the design spine or design portfolio approach throughout the undergraduate program. [Pg.141]

The undergraduate programs attract about one thousand applications each year, and they are consequently extremely competitive. Participants are largely black, hispanic and Native American but non-minority women (including API) are also included. In general these students do well in college and many successfully go on to graduate studies. [Pg.98]
