1.2- Dioxo compounds amides

Treatment of the amides 11 with phenacyl bromide in refluxing acetonitrile provides the 1-oxo compounds 13 without isolation of the quaternized intermediates 12. Use of 2-cyanopyridine in wet acetonitrile also yields the oxo compound 13 (R = H). Treatment of the amide 11 (R = H) with ethyl bromoacetate provides the dioxo compound 15. This was also formed when attempts were made to recrystallize the quaternary salt 14. Dehydration of the piperidine 16 gives the reduced compound 17. A variety of 3-aryl derivatives were prepared using this approach. ... [Pg.466]

A sigruficant use is as a catalyst in a multitude of reactions, such as the formation of acrjdic and methacrjdic acid amides from fatty acid amides (81) of cychc ketones such as 4-phen5icyclopentane-l,2-dione and 2,5-dihydroxy-/)-benzoquinone from benzaldehyde diethji acetal and 2,4-dioxo-5,5-dimethoxy-hexanoic acid methyl ester (82) of dimer aldehydes from propane (83) and for the polymerization of epoxy compounds (84). Sianesi and co-workers have alkylated 3,4-dihydro-2H-l,2-ben20thia-zine 1,1-dioxide (77) with ethyl bromoacetate to give ethyl (3,4-dihydro-1,1-dioxo-2H-l,2-benzothiazin-2-yI)acetate (127). The ester functionality in 127 was converted into amides and hydrazides. Zenno and Mizutani have also reported on the N-alkylation of compounds related to 77. Alkylation of... [Pg.96]

Dioxo-imidazolidines, also called hydantoins, also include the carbonamide structure, and therefore the corresponding A-hydroxymethyl compounds are listed among the reaction products of amides and formaldehyde. [Pg.127]

Zhou et al. [180] used a laboratory-made fiber with 25,27-dihydroxy-26,28-oxy (2, 7 -dioxo-3, 6 -diazaoctyl)oxy-p-ferf-butylcalix[4]arene/hydroxy-terminated silicone oil (amide bridged-C[4]/OH-TSO) coating in headspace SPME coupled to GC-EID for the determination of phenolic compoimds in wastewater matrices. They have compared the extraction ability of this new fiber with the commercially available polyacrylate (PA, 85 xm) fiber. They showed that the new calixarene fiber had high affinity for the phenolic compounds due to the introduction of the polar amide bridge in calix[4]arene. The authors have applied the method to determine the phenolic analytes in real wastewater samples and found recoveries ranging from 89.7% to 103.2%. [Pg.427]
