Non-hygroscopic powder

In the narrower sense, dioxin term is assumed for 2,3,7,8-tetrachlordibenzo-p-dioxin (2,3,7,8-TCDD) only. 2,3,7,8-TCDD is odorless and colorless non-hygroscopic powder, featuring high adhesion ability and static behavior.

The films are prepared by dissolving pullulan in water at 5-10% concentration and continually drying the solution applied to a smooth surface. A new compn was developed consisting of RDX 35.9, NC (1-2.6% N) 24.5, NG 22.8, DNEtB 10.0, DBuPh 6.6 DPhA 0.2%. Nitrocellulose powders gelatinized on the surface with centralite, camphor or nitro compounds are less hygroscopic since the layer of gel on the surface constitutes a non-hygroscopic coating which prevents the powder inside from attracting moisture. Nitrocellulose powders containing aromatic nitro compounds, e.g, dinitrotoluene (DNT) or dinitroxylene (DNX) are less hygroscopic.
