The first metal-ligand alternative base pair to be incorporated in DNA duplexes was of [3 -f-1] type and was reported by Meggers et al. in 2000 (96). This pair was based on tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate (Dipic) and monodentate pyridine (py) ligands, which were introduced in complementary positions in the middle of a DNA duplex (Entry 14, Table V). The same group reported the incorporation in DNA duplexes of three other tridentate ligands that bear structural similarity to Dipic, namely, pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide (Di-pam) (Entry 15, Table V) (120), pyridine-2,6-(N-methyl-)dicarboxamide (Me-Dipam) (120), and 2,6-bis(ethylthiomethyl)pyridine (SPy) (Entry 16, Table V) (106). In the absence of a metal ion, incorporation in DNA duplexes of any of the four tridentate ligands opposite a pyridine had a destabilization effect similar to that of a mismatch or completely prevented the formation of a duplex. 

Polymeric resins such as poly(acrylamide-acrylic acid) [24,25] [cationic resin, pAM-AA], poly(acrylic acid-diallylethylamine-HCl) [20] [amphoteric resin, pAA-DAEA-HCl], and poly(acrylamide-acrylic acid-di-allylamine-HCl [26] [amphoteric resin. pAM-AA-DAA-HCl] and poly(acrylamide-acrylic acid-diallylethylam-ine-HCl) [26] [amphoteric resin, pAM-AA-DAEA-HCl] were also used in water treatment. 

Poly(acrylamide-diallylethylamine-HCl) (cationic polyacrylamide pAM-HCl) was prepared by gamma radiation-initiated copolymerization of acrylamide with di-allylethylamine-HCI in aqueous solution at the optimum composition for copolymerization of acrylamide with diallylamine derivatives [61]. 

Rohypnol is the trade name for flunitrazepam (pronounced floo-nigh-trays-eh-pam ), a drug that belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines (pronounced ben-zoh-di-ayz-eh-peens ). Other well-known benzodiazepines include Valium and Xanax. Benzodiazepines are primarily prescribed by doctors to treat anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. 

Seizures Clonazepam [kloe NA ze pam] is useful in the chronic treatment of epilepsy, whereas diazepam is the drug of choice in terminating grand mal epileptic seizures and status epilepticus (see p. 149). Chlordiazepoxide [klor di az e POX ide], clorazepate [klor AZ e pate], diazepam, and oxazepam [ox A ze pam] are useful in the acute treatment of alcohol withdrawal.

The analysis of literature indicates that the search of antidotes for the treatment of OPC intoxications during the second half of twentieth century was performed preferably among H-oximes and thiohydroxime esters. A great number of active compounds were synthesized and studied (2-PAM, TMB-4, HI-6, HGG-12, HGG-42, HLo-7, alloxime, aphine, carboxime, di-ethyxime, etc ). However, oximes may be only considered as one of the basic components of formulas. The usage of any of them as monotherapy does not ensure a high antidotic effect.

Dynamic conformation and exchange effects in 2-(pyridyl-4)-IbP molecules have been studied by PMR spectroscopy. Analyses of the PMR spectra were also carried out for 2-(pyridyl-2, pyridyl-3, 6-methyl- and 5-ethylpyridyl-2)-substituted IcPs, as well as for di(l-methyl-IcP-2-yl) (89KG940). The PMR spectra of 1-, 3- and 5-benzyl IbP derivatives (including those with substituents in the pam-position of the benzene ring), and also for IcP substituted with 2-cycloalkylaminomethyl groups were described (71LA158). 

Two triaminoquinazoline compounds have been found active 2. 4-di-amino-6-(3. 4-dichlorobenzylamino) quinazoline (V) and 2. 4-diamino-6(3 4-dichlorobenzyl) nitrosoaminoquinazoline (VI). The first (PAM-1392) was several times more active than quinine, rapid, synergistic with sulfadiazine and effective against strains highly resistant to chloroquine.
