Polyester fibers have exceUent resistance to soap, detergent, bleach, and other oxidiziag agents. PET fibers are generally iasoluble ia organic solvents, including cleaning fluids, but are soluble ia some phenoHc compounds, eg, (9-chlorophenol. 

DAST-type FBAs may contain by-products (such as 11.13) derived from hydrolysis of one or more of the chloro substituents in cyanuric chloride (11.10). One such troublesome byproduct is 2,4-bis(anilino)-6-hydroxy-s-triazine (11.62). Not only is this compound environmentally undesirable, it may also interact with certain bleaching agents and its presence can lead to the development of unpleasant odours on storage of a detergent... 

Coumarin has also found use in toothpastes, antiperspirant deodorants, bath products, body lotions, face creams, fragrance creams, hair sprays, shampoos, shower gels and toilet soaps (Cohen, 1979 Lake, 1999). It has been used in detergents as a brightener or bleaching agent (Perone, 1972). 

The second Ag release study was performed under conditions relevant for washing (high pH, presence of detergents and bleaching agents) [52]. Bleaches. In many detergent applications, the action of a supplementary bleaching agent is necessary or desirable. It is frequently preferable lo incorporate the bleach directly into the deteigent product for reasons of convenience or performance. 

The principal use of sodium carbonate peroxohydrate is as a bleaching agent in domestic and laundry detergents. It is used also for industrial textile-bleaching, tripe-bleaching, and in denture cleaners. It can also be used as a convenient oxidant in organic chemistry. 

Isocyanates (RNCO) are industrially relevant compounds which find application in several fields [9, 106]. Many isocyanates serve as the starting materials for the manufacture of plant protection agents, pesticides, dyes, resins and plastics, textile waterproofing agents, detergents, bleaches, and adhesives. They are also widely used in surface coatings such as paints, sealants and finishes, and in the manufacture of rubbery plastics such as those used to coat wires. Traditionally, diisocyanates are the primary feedstock for the production of polyurethanes. The global market for diisocyanates in the year 2000 was 4.4 million tonnes, of which 61.3% was methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), 34.1% was toluene diisocyanate... 

All proteolytic enzymes described are fairly non-specific serine endoproteases, cleaving peptide chains preferentially at the carboxyl side of hydrophobic amino acid residues. The enzymes convert their substrates into small, readily soluble fragments which can be removed easily from fabrics. Only serine protease can be used in detergent formulations, as thiol proteases such as papain would be oxidized by the bleaching agents, acidic proteases are not active at common laundry conditions, and metalloproteases such as thermolysin would lose their metal cofactors because of complexation with the water-softening agents or hydroxyl ions.
