The liquid detector model simulates the behaviour of detection papers, which are in operational use by the Dutch and many other Defence forces. It simulates whether or not a paper will show a visible coloration, depending on deposition density and droplet sizes. [Pg.63]

M9 Chemical Detection Paper A self-adhesive paper that can be readily attached to the body or to vehicles, shelters, and other equipment. It cannot distinguish the identity of agents. The agent sensitive dye will turn red upon contact with liquid nerve agents (G and V) and blister agents (H and L). The paper produces colored spots when in contact with nerve and blister agents. [Pg.321]

Chemical interferences are dependent upon the detection method. This results from the fact that many of the detection methods are not molecule-specific. For example, many of the detection papers change color based on a physical property that many similar chemicals share. Thus, the topic of interferences will be discussed in a method-specific manner. This discussion has been limited to the sensor systems that are candidates for use as continuous real-time monitors. [Pg.81]

M8 and M9 detection papers provide a rapid, inexpensive test for the presence of liquid mustard or nerve agents. Use of the paper should be as a screening test only because of the paper s propensity to show false positive results. Ealse positive results for the presence of a CW agent in a civilian community could produce hysteria and panic. [Pg.430]

M8 Chemical Agent Detection Paper detects and identifies liquid chemical agents. It is tan in color and comes in a booklet containing 25 perforated sheets (2 in. x 3 in.), which are heat sealed in a polyethylene envelope. There are three sensitive indicator dyes suspended in the paper matrix. The paper is blotted on a suspected liquid agent and... [Pg.377]

The Metropolitan Medical Strike Teams (MMSTs) being organized and equipped by the Public Health Service (PHS) have purchased M8 and M9 detection paper, M256A1 Detection Kits, Ml8 Detection Kits, Draegar kits, portable surface-acoustical-wave (SAW) chemical agent detectors (SAW MiniCAD), and chemical agent monitors (CAM). [Pg.55]

In another application, paper used to wipe a surface contaminated with heroin and cocaine was cut to provide the necessary emission point both drugs were detected. Paper spray was also shown to ionize various other compounds effectively, including methyl violet (a dye), phosphatidylcholine (a lipid), angiotensin (a peptide), and the protein cytochrome C. [Pg.217]
