Deep procedures

A combination of alfentanil and propofol for deep procedural sedation in an emergency department was not beneficial [61 ]. It was not associated with improved pain control or recall after the procedure. A higher proportion of patients who received the combination (31 of 71) required stimulation to induce respiration.

Another clinical consideration is the abiUty of local anesthetic agents to effect differential blockade of sensory and motor fibers. The principal complication for total joint replacement is infection, which may occur just in the area of the incision or more seriously deep around the prosthesis. Infections in the wound area, which may even occur years after the procedure has been performed, are usually treated with antibiotics (qv). 

Wastewater Deep Well Injection. This is an alternate wastewater disposal procedure and requires some treating prior to injection, such as filtration or pFI adjustment. Permits for this procedure require long lead times. Reference 4 gives prediction methods for refinery wastew ater, generation. 

B ) Coupling Orange T.—The procedure is the same as in (B) except that the alkaline solution of a-naphthol (Note 4) is cooled to 25 before adding the ice (Note 5). The azo dye in this case does not crystallize but forms a deep purple-red solution. 

The submitters recommend collection of solid wastes in an appropriate solid waste container, and liquid wastes (filtrates containing thallium residues, etc.) in suitably labeled bottles or cans. For the disposal of thallium wastes, a commercial organization specializing in the disposal of toxic materials was employed. The submitters understand that the disposal procedure consists of burying thallium wastes in deep pits after covering with sand. 

N-Methylimidazole is then removed from the reaction mixture with Amberlyst 15 ion exchange resin (Note 9) using the following procedure. To a 2-cm diameter column equipped with a glass frit (Note 1) is added 7 g of Amberlyst 15, which is rinsed with 25 mL of methylene chloride. The reaction mixture is added and the resin mixture is rinsed with 50 mL of methylene chloride. The filtrate is collected in a 250-mL flask (Note 10) and the solvent is removed on a rotary evaporator to afford 1.63-1.66 g (96-98%) of the desired ester 1 as a deep red foam. HPLC analysis showed a purity of 98% (Notes 11, 12, 13, 14). 

Recursive procedures demand special attention to flow control and data structures. For instance, the flow control within the procedure must correctly handle an error, say missing file information or inconsistent data, that is discovered several iterations deep.
