Deep drawing sheet

Plastic instability is very important in processes like deep drawing sheet metal to form car bodies, cans, etc. Obviously we must ensure that the materials and press designs are chosen carefully to avoid instability. [Pg.116]

In the case of steel sheet, a great deal depends on its composition which affects adhesion of the enamel coating as well as on the ductility of the sheet which is necessary for shaping. Deep-drawing sheets suitable for enamelling are of low-carbon steel... [Pg.201]

Equipment costs vary greatly low for simple bending machines, moderate for roll forming machines and high for automated deep drawing, sheet metal presses and stretch forming. [Pg.118]

Neutral cleaners (non-caustic based) These are ethylene oxide condensates, and easily emulsify the mineral oils and greases. They are more useful for sheet-metal components, which contain no lead compound lubricants (as used for deep-drawing operations), and are also suitable for non-ferrous... [Pg.400]

Two general types of sheet steel are in current use, viz. cold-rolled mild steel and decarburised steel. A typical analysis for cold-rolled steel is 0-1% C, 0-5% Mn and 0-04% S. It can be obtained in regular, deep drawing or extra-deep drawing grades. This type of steel is normally used with a ground-coat including cobalt and nickel, as shown in Table 16.1. [Pg.736]

We use plug assisted thermoforming when we wish to make thick-walled products or thin-walled, deep draw products. The principal steps of the process are illustrated in Fig. 16.2. The first two stages are similar to those of vacuum forming. Once the sheet has been clamped, a plug made from a material with low heat conductivity is thrust downwards into the cavity,... [Pg.273]

A new thermoformable grade of polyamide from Bayer can be extruded into sheets and then thermoformed to deep draw ratios, allowing the production of spoilers for BMW. [Pg.837]

Forming tools such as drawing rings, deep drawing dies or bending tools for sheet metal forming are typical examples of C VD-coated steel... [Pg.453]

The PVC-acrylic polymer alloy previously described is characterized by high speed injection moldability and, in sheet form, by deep drawing capability, both of which are the result of low melt viscosity. A cellulose-ethyl acrylate graft copolymer compatibilizes cellulose and PEA, cellulose and PVC, as well as starch and PVC (8). These compositions containing PVC obviously have better flow properties than non-thermoplastic cellulose or starch. However, they also have better flow properties than PVC alone. [Pg.94]
