As we shall see later the data type to a large extent determines the class of statistical tests that we undertake. Commonly for continuous data we use the t-tests and their extensions analysis of variance and analysis of covariance. For binary, categorical and ordinal data we use the class of chi-square tests (Pearson chi-square for categorical data and the Mantel-Haenszel chi-square for ordinal data) and their extension, logistic regression. [Pg.19]

Internally, GEMINI uses a rich set of data types with well-defined relationships which can include redundancy or ambiguity. Such information includes atomic number, connectivity, bond order, chirality, charge, co-ordinates, etc. Fortunately, there are very few different representations that are used for each kind of information, and algorithms are readily available for their interconversion. [Pg.195]

The Hammett equation is the best-known and most widely studied of the various linear free energy relations for correlating reaction rate and equilibrium constant data.
