Dart project

The Dart project was another dietary intervention program focusing on changing lifestyles and consumption of fish, one of the most important health components of MeD, in patients with an acute coronary syndrome. In this trial 2033 men aged < 70 years were randomly assigned to two groups. The first group received a... [Pg.213]

Abstract. This aims to be an overview of what detailed observations of individual stars in nearby dwarf galaxies may teach us about galaxy evolution. This includes some early results from the DART (Dwarf Abundances and Radial velocity Team) Large Programme at ESO. This project has used 2.2m/WFI and VLT/FLAMES to obtain spectra of large samples of individual stars in nearby dwarf spheroidal galaxies and determine accurate abundances and kinematics. These results can be used to trace the formation and evolution of nearby galaxies from the earliest times to the present. [Pg.213]

In 2009, the DART committee organized a follow-up workshop (held in conjunction with the European Teratology Society Annual Meeting) to the 2007 workshop, to evaluate researchers progress towards addressing those next steps for the WEC, mESC, and zebrafish. It was apparent in the 2009 workshop that much work needed to be done. A Zebrafish Consortium (scientists from Bristol-Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and other companies) provided encouraging results at this workshop and is expected to finish their collaborative project at the end of 2011. [Pg.480]

It is in this context, that in 2009, the DART committee formed a Steering Team to work on a project titled Consensus List of Developmental Toxicants. The Steering Team published a report of their deliberations and defined developmental toxicant in terms of its concentration in vitro (27). Daston et al. (27) based the definitions of positive and negative developmental toxicants according to their exposure conditions. That is, compounds on the list could have an exposure concentration that is unequivocally positive and a concentration that is unequivocally negative. In addition, only permanent effects that alter fetal organization, particularly structural malformations, were considered developmental toxicity. For example, fetal weight decreases (which are commonly used endpoints in risk assessment) are not considered developmental toxicity for the purposes of this list. [Pg.482]

By bending the wire back on itself about a quarter of an inch and sharpening it on a grinder, you wQl make it difficult to remove. If you want it impossible to remove with the fingers, cut the head off an inch from the tip and roll a half-dndt of Scotdi tape around both pieces. If the victim pulls the dart, the hMd will disengage and stay in the fle. Elven if some is projecting, it woidd take a pair of pliars to remove it. [Pg.32]

Clarke s reference to eye-beams relies on an understanding of an active eye that emits pneuma to unite with particles projected by the object. This way of seeing also resembles the neo-platonic theory of love - a concept that popular texts, such as The Problems of Aristotle, rendered in elementary form the louer sendeth co[nt]inuall beames of the eie towards that which he loueth. And those beames are like vnto arrowes, because the louer doth dart them into the bodie (sig. Lyv). The evil eye depends on the same principles -vapours are emitted from one person s eye to penetrate the victim s eyes. [Pg.193]

In the 3D concept, we define by an identical method the chest and waist darts in a plan parallel with the front body. The darts lines are then projected perpendicnlarly onto the surface of each ballistic panel (Fig. 8.11(a)). The first two darts of chest and waist are projected on the first ballistic panel nearest to the body (Fig. 8.11(b)). The two following darts on the second panel (Fig. 8.11(c)) are shifted taking into account the thickness of compressed fabric and so on for the other panels (Fig. 8.12). [Pg.179]

Typical of the state-of-the-art is the ESPRIT II DARTS [3] project which aims to v idate the cost effectiveness of a number of currently available/emerging assessment models. This is being achieved by applying these techniques, within a controlled environment, to diverse safety critical software based systems. [Pg.171]
