The advertising of medicines in the Czech Republic is regulated by legislation in the Advertising Act (Act no. 40/1995 Coll.). This was amended to comply with Directive 2001/83/EC when the Czech Republic became part of the European Union in 2004. [Pg.19]

In sum, the zealous over-compliance with international acidification norms by the Czech Republic was driven by strong domestic concern and policies that mandated strict emission standards and neutralized the opposition of industry through policy concessions and subsidies. International norms provided a commitment mechanism for domestic reformers and a model for regulations. Beyond these facilitating factors, the close correspondence between domestic preferences and international commitments was the single most important factor that explains the high compliance with European acid rain standards in the Czech Republic. The significant acidi-... [Pg.163]

Although the effort to follow and respect the directives and regulations of EU (European Parliament and Council. 2008, Council of the European Union. 1999) and The Waste Management Plan of the Czech Republic (Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. 2003) the most common way of waste treatment is the waste disposal. Almost 80% of the waste production is disposal to the landfills which is above average of the EU countries (46%). Waste disposal at the low level of respecting the environmental standards represents very often the threat for the human health, property and environment. It is necessary for the competent and responsible stakeholders to create conditions for a rigorous application of the hierarchy of waste disposal and the tools of The State Environmental Politics (Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, 2004) in the area of waste management. [Pg.894]

As well as in other Central-Eastern European countries, state-funded universities in the Czech Republic suffered from economic changes during the transition period. Although student em-olment rose by 60 %, this was not sufficient to meet educational demand. At the beginning, Czech Technical Universities had the liberty to set their own admission policies, without state-wide regulations. [Pg.133]

Since the method was developed based on safety regulations of EPFL and originates from its safety culture, the feasibility of LARA to other environments was not demonstrated yet. For the further development and the improvement, the adaption to other universities is a crucial element. The use of LARA at other universities can help to find improvement potential and is able to show if untrained personnel with different occupational safety background can fully benefit of this risk management method. For this reason, joint tests were performed at the Institute of Energetic Materials at the University of Pardubice (Czech Republic) and the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (ISIC) of EPFL (Switzerland). [Pg.1393]
