Cyclodextrins polymers containing

Besides the PYR, the capacity of the cyclodextrin polymers containing naphthalene tetracarboxylate biacid (NAF) and carbonate (PCD) as cross-linkers towards cooper and cadmium ions retention was investigated [29]. Cu ) was retained by all used polymers, but Cd(II) effectively absorbed only on NAF and PYR. High retention values for studied metal ions were observed in the case of NAF (98,2% and 82,8%, respectively for Cu(II) and Cd(II). This results indicates that Cd (II)-polymer interaction mainly is related to the presence of the ionic group (carboxylate) and the anion exchange moiety is crucial for metal ions absorption, which do not interact with the native cyclodextrin. It was also found that the cyclodextrin polymer is able to complex Cu(II) at acidic pH values, whereas the native cyclodextrin is able to bind only at pH > 12. [Pg.1511]

The adsorption isotherms of acid azo dyes onto water soluble and insoluble polymers containing cyclodextrin were measured in aqueous solution. The adsorption of dyes on both types of polymers increased with increase in the ratio of hydrophobic components in the dyes [38], Dyes derivative of dialkylaminobenzene were used for the dyeing of nylon 6 and 6,6 in the presence of interacting / -CD [39], / -CD showed good levelling properties in the dyeing of polyamide fibers. The observed effect can be due to the formation of complexes between /Acyclodcxtri n and dyes. [Pg.210]

A polymer containing [Ru(bpy)3]2+—like centres bound has been prepared by copolymerisation of [Ru (bpy)2(MVbpy)]2+ and sodium styrenesulphonate (1 20 molar ratio) in the presence of3—cyclodextrin (O Connell 1983). This sample is quenched by PVS with a rate constant (1.0xl09dm3mol l) rather similar... [Pg.68]

Wang [3] prepared the amphiphilic biocompatible cyclodextrin graft polymer, poly(ethylene glycol-g-cyclodextrin), (III), containing modified cyclodextrin which was used as a bioactive drug delivery agent. [Pg.47]

A method for preparing polymers in a narrow molecular weight distribution by controlled radical polymerization in an aqueous solution using (3-cyclodextrin as the macroinitiator intermediate and 1,1 -diphenylethylene as the regulator is described. Since this method requires considerably lower amounts of both initiator and regulator, polymers contain limited amounts of regulator and initiator decomposition products. [Pg.575]

The steric structure of the matrix-carrier can make an additional contribution to the asymmetric reaction, especially if the carrier contains chiral characteristics. Thus, Smith et al. showed that o// / o-cyclodextrin as the host compound can induce asymmetric reactions in the reduction of acetophenone and Tanaka et al. showed that the pyridine-borane-cyclodex-trin system induces chirality with an ee of 91%. Pd supported on a copolymer of Z>eto-cyclodextrin-epichlorhydrin hydrogenates 2-methylpent-2-enoic acid with an ee of 9.3% whereas Pt supported on Z> to-cyclodextrin polymer produced an optical yield of up to 15.7% (Smith et al. [Pg.171]

Busche et al. [15] reported the properties of polystyrene (PS)/poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) blends partially compatibilized with star polymers containing a y-cyclodextrin core and polystyrene arms. The mechanism of com-patibilization was observed to be threading of the cyclodextrin core by PDMS and subsequent solubilization in the PS matrix facilitated by the star arms. [Pg.15]

The PEC containing a p-cyclodextrin (p-CD) moiety able to form inclusion complexes with naproxen, a model compound, was obtained using a star polycation and linear polyanions. The chains of poly[2-(Af/if-dimethy-amino)ethyl methacrylate] served as the arms of the polycation, while the block polymers of PEG and poly(methacrylic acid) (PMA) were used as polyanions. However, since each macromolecule of the cationic star polymer contained only one p-CD moiety, the loading capacity of naproxen was relatively low. [Pg.303]
