Since it has been shown that NDEIA can cause cancer in two species of laboratory animals 22, 45), we believe that its presence at relatively high levels in cutting fluids, may represent a hazardous situation in terms of worker exposure. It is, therefore, suggested that workers who formulate or use cutting fluids (such as machinists) be studied with regard to their cancer incidence, and measures should be taken to reduce their daily exposure to NDEIA. 

Exposure to mist sprays or insoluble oils used as coolants, cutting fluids, and lubricants in machine operations are usually not harmful to the respiratory tract, although worker discomfort occurs at oil mist levels above 5mgm . Mineral oil droplets <5 pm in diameter may be inhaled and result in fibrotic nodules, paraffinomas, or in lipoid pneumonitis. There was no evidence that machinists exposed to cutting-oil mists had any unusual mortality from respiratory tract cancer. 

Whatever you do, get extra circuit board for either you or someone else to practice on before the final pieces are cut. Even the most experienced machinist may not have any experience working with this material. 

In practice, the ranges in Table 1 are so broad that machinists or other interested people with a particular need to know the transition to adiabatic shearing for a particular work material heat treatment and tool geometry would be well advised to carry out their own experiments, for example, varying cutting speed over their range of interest at a fixed uncut chip thickness.

When large numbers of people work with cutting fluids, it is impossible to prevent all cases of dermatitis, as skin contact cannot be avoided. However, more serious severe outbreaks of dermatitis are preventable. Three aspects need to be considered the machinist, the machine and the oil itself.

On reading this brief survey about cutting materials, we understand that in each family of materials research continues to improve performances and efficiencies. It is certain that the machinist, who aims at optimizing his work, is faced with a range of cutting materials, more and more complex, with very often overlapping characteristics and fields of application thus it is not always easy to choose.
