Cure efficiency

One system uses mouse lymphoma cells and detects mutations that cause deficiency of thymidine kinase (TK). Another uses Chinese hamster cells and detects mutations in the gene that produces hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HGPRT). Both tests cure efficient, are widely applied, and can be completed in a few weeks. Although not as simple, rapid, and efficient as the Salmonella tests, they have the advantage of being done in a eukaryote. Mammalian-cell cultures cure also used to test for chromosomal mutation. [Pg.7]

Baldwin and co-workers also studied the peroxide curing behaviour of other EPDMs with a variety of third monomers [97]. As expected, they found that terminal olefins as present in 5-vinyl-2-norbornene (VNB) and MNB containing EPDM provide a much higher peroxide curing efficiency as compared to internal olefins as present in for instance ENB, DCPD and HD containing EPDM. This again is in line with the earlier considerations mentioned [96]. [Pg.228]

The presence of colorant was also shown to affect the behavior of the photosensitizer ). Figure 12 compares the curing efficiency of photosensitizers A, B, and C with and without 10% black pigment. In both... [Pg.180]

With the coagulation theory of morphine action and drug addiction substantiated, there appears to be no reason why certain morphine addicts should not be cured efficiently and completely by the use of sodium thiocyanate. [Pg.6]

EFFECTS OF CONCENTRATION. Analyses of cured films have often indicated that most of the photolnltlator remains unreacted (19. 20). Surprisingly, the use of lower concentrations often result in insufficient cure. The concentration of a photoinitiator is not simply or directly related to curing efficiency. If the selection of initiator and lamp are held constant, the net effect of varying the concentration of the photo initiator will be to determine the distribution of the initiating radicals throughout the coating. [Pg.34]

While this paper reports only preliminary findings. It does Illustrate the usefulness of photocalorimetry to define optimum cure conditions for UV curable adhesives. In addition, once the mechanical spectrum of fully cured adhesive has been mapped, mechanical spectroscopy can be used to monitor cure efficiency. In this paper we have not explored the molecular weight Implications of Incomplete polymerization. Preliminary evaluation of loss and storage modulus data would suggest that time-temperature superposition may be necessary to evaluate molecular welght/degree of cure relationships and terminal, plateau, and transition zones (4). [Pg.255]

The objective of the mixing process is to produce a compound with its ingredients thoroughly incorporated and dispersed so that it will process easily in the subsequent forming operations, cure efficiently, and develop the necessary... [Pg.261]

The commercialization of many new applications for red adhesives has created a need for new classes of initiators having greater curing efficiency, improved ility, lower odor, and resistance to yellowing. The tive of this paper is to review the current major es of commercial photoinitiators, describe their nisms and discuss key properties which should be... [Pg.409]

Vulcanization System Components. Tire compounds are almost exclusively cured (cross-linked) with sulfur. Sulfenamides, thiazoles, thiurams, guanidine, and carbamates are the most popular choices to accelerate curing. Efficient vulcanization (EV), semiefficient (semi-EV), and the conventional curing systems... [Pg.7333]

In addition to the tendency to colour formation due to photo-reduction already mentioned, organo-titanates can also give undesirable colour effects in the presence of phenolic functionality such as often encountered in antioxidants and light stabilisers. The ready reduction of titanium IV also causes problems in peroxide cures where deactivation of the free radicals and reduction in cure efficiency can occur. [Pg.198]

When mixing fillers, plasticizers and chemicals into rubber, the aim is to produce a product that has the ingredients incorporated and dispersed sufficiently thoroughly for it to shape easily, cure efficiently, and give the necessary end-use properties—all with the minimum expenditure of machine-time and energy. [Pg.223]

Early in the investigations of the diurethane systems it was noted that improved cure efficiency could be achieved through the... [Pg.268]
