Pressure. Most pressure measurements are based on the concept of translating the process pressure into a physical movement of a diaphragm, bellows, or a Bourdon element. For electronic transmission, these basic elements are coupled with an electronic device for transforming a physical movement associated with the element into an electronic signal proportional to the process pressure, eg, a strain gauge or a linear differential variable transformer (LDVT). [Pg.65]

The material-flexing group includes laminated diskring, bellows, flexible shaft, diaphragm, and elastomeric couplings. [Pg.993]

Bellows couplings consist of two shaft hubs connected to a flexible bellows. This design, which compensates for minor misalignment, is used at moderate rotational torque and shaft speed. This type of coupling provides flexibility to compensate for axial movement and misalignment caused by thermal expansion of the equipment components. Figure 59.7 illustrates a typical bellows coupling. [Pg.993]

Bellows Nickel bellows can be made by electrodeposition onto a grooved cylinder. In this case, the nickel coating cannot be slid off, and so the substrate must be removed destructively. The grooved cylinders or mandrels are frequently of aluminium alloy which is dissolved away in caustic alkali when the nickel deposition is completed. Uses include pressure switches, flexible couplings, and pressure transducers . [Pg.542]

Where ka AG, and Kel represent the Boltzmann constant, the free energy barrier for the ET process, and the transmission coefficient, respectively. In the present system, the electronic coupling between the reactant and the product is sufficiently strong (.see bellow) so that Kel - 1. AG is represented by the electronic coupling matrix element, H12, and the reorganization free... [Pg.398]

Parella and Bellow have described both non-selective and selective versions of several proton-detected ID NMR experiments that can be applied to Using these methods, the authors reported the successful determination of both one-bond and long-range coupling constants using a model tripeptide at natural abundance. [Pg.8]

Figure 6.3 The Mark II cavity spectrometer viewed through its Perspex cover. The spatial filter is visible in the centre of the case. The translation stage and piezoelectric actuator are seen in the foreground and operate via the bellows to move the near mirror. The coupling iris is in the centre of the far mirror. The waveguide couplings holding the mica vacuum windows can be seen either side of the case in the background. Sample inlet is on the left wall of the case not visible and outlet is on the right via the pressure sensor... Figure 6.3 The Mark II cavity spectrometer viewed through its Perspex cover. Under Khaled s directions the group of sybarite youths took up their positions once more. One couple started necking on the grass, another pair sported in the water. The little children stubbed their cigarettes out, then ran around in dizzy circles, giggling and shrieking. "Not so loud " Khaled bellowed at them. [Pg.257]

The head of the transfer bellows contains a winch and a hand operated grab which Is coupled to the plug unit to release the pressure lock as the closure Is unlocked. The winch Is now used to partially lift the plug unit out of the reactor to a height at which the grab Is locked within the bellows head. The pile cap crane Is then used to extend the bellows and fully withdraw the plug unit from the channel so that It Is contained within the transfer bellows. [Pg.279]

The homo-coupling Ullmann reaction can be performed at room temperature or bellow by metallation of suitable substrates such as relatively acidic arenes or aryl hahdes with the -BuLi (or other strong bases) followed by addition of Cu(II) salts [28], Aryllithium reagent undergoes transmetallation with the Cu(II) salts to form diarylcopper(II) which is prone to rapid reductive elimination of the biaryl with extrusion of a copper nrirror. Benincori and coworkers [28] described an efficient procedure for the homo-coupling reaction of bromide 21 via diarylcopperfll) 22 under very mild reaction conditions, where the 3,3 -bibenzo[b]thiophene (23) was obtained in 56% yield.
