Corrosion coatings and

Applications in power sources (batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors, membranes), corrosion, coatings and paints, electrocatalytic reactions (e.g., water electrolysis, CI2 evolution), conductive polymers, self-assembled monolayers, biological membranes, sensors, semiconductors, and others. [Pg.4]

While the work carried out thus far has appeared promising, and several patents to many parties have been issued on the technology, to date no extensive studies yet exist of field performance of CP-based anti-corrosion coatings. And of course, no CP anti-corrosion coatings are yet commercially available. Field performance tests would be required to encompass not only corrosion protection, but also durability (e.g. against abrasion), and environmental impact (e.g. runoff or leaching from P(ANi) coatings). Thus, as compared to the tried-and-true chromate conversion... [Pg.588]

The application of fundamentally new ECT (Russia patent Jf 2063025) has made it possible to provide high-efficiency defect control accompanied by detecting both small surface defects and more rough under-surface defects under non-magnetic metal layer of 7 mm thick, or surface defects under protection coatings, dye, corrosion, hermetic and other type of layer of 10 mm thick. [Pg.342]

Surface Fluorination of Polymers. Fluorocarbon-coated objects have many practical appHcations because the chemically adherent surface provides increased thermal stabiHty, resistance to oxidation and corrosive chemicals and solvents, decreased coefficient of friction and thus decreased wear, and decreased permeabiHty to gas flow. Unusual surface effects can be obtained by fluorinating the polymer surfaces only partially (74). [Pg.279]

Ziac foil coated with a conductive, pressure-sensitive adhesive is used for repair of other ziac coatings or for imparting corrosion resistance at field sites. The 0.08-mm ziac tape or sheet has a 0.025-mm coaductive adhesive. The laminate is cut to size and pressed tightly to activate the adhesive. Conductive tape can be wrapped around pipe, especially around welds or connections. The corrosion resistance of this material is iatermediate between galvanized or thermally sprayed coatings and zinc-filled paints (21,50). [Pg.137]

Corrosion. Anticorrosion measures have become standard ia pipeline desiga, coastmctioa, and maintenance ia the oil and gas iadustries the principal measures are appHcation of corrosion-preventive coatings and cathodic protection for exterior protection and chemical additives for iaterior protectioa. Pipe for pipelines may be bought with a variety of coatiags, such as tar, fiber glass, felt and heavy paper, epoxy, polyethylene, etc, either pre-apphed or coated and wrapped on the job with special machines as the pipe is lowered iato the treach. An electric detector is used to determine if a coatiag gap (hoHday) exists bare spots are coated before the pipe is laid (see Corrosion and corrosion control). [Pg.50]

Other minor raw materials are used for specific needs. Eumaric acid [110-17-8] the geometric isomer of maleic acid, is selected to maximize thermal or corrosion performance and is the sole acid esterified with bisphenol A diol derivatives to obtain optimum polymer performance. CycloaUphatics such as hydrogenated bisphenol A (HBPA) and cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) are used in selective formulations for electrical apphcations. TetrahydrophthaUc anhydride [85-43-8] (THPA) can be used to improve resiUence and impart useful air-drying properties to polyester resins intended for coating or lining apphcations. [Pg.313]

Pigment Dispersion. AMP is used widely as a pigment dispersant for water-based paints and paper coatings. In small amounts, it efficiently disperses pigments and improves pH stabiUty, viscosity, corrosion inhibition, and odor (13). When AMP is used in conjunction with other surfactants, enhanced performance is obtained with less of these ingredients in the dispersion. [Pg.19]
