In order to maintain fresh food without the loss of freshness, low temperature is needed. Therefore, when fresh foods are transported, foods are packed in thermally insulating styrofoam along with a coolant. Thus, the low temperature is maintained by the latent heat of melting. A polymer hydrogel coolant that contains a hydrogel in a flexible bag has better shape and cooling characteristics than ice or the more inexpensive dry ice. Thus, its consumption is steadily increasing. 

Both board-attached and wire harness connectors benefit from SPS s excellent thermal diffusivity, defined as the ratio of thermal conductivity to volumetric heat capacity. As a result, cycle time models show that injection-molded parts cool quickly in the mold, helping to minimize cycle time and improve dimensional stability of their complex, molded features such as the terminal snap fit features on harness connectors. Tool designers typically cannot place cooling lines in close proximity to these features and the cooling characteristics of SPS are essential to minimizing the cycle time during manufacturing.
