Contractors mapping

One common deficiency in the sites reviewed was the lack of an accurate, up-to-date site work zone map. Of the sites reviewed, only the Site H contractor had established site work zones that were clearly marked on a site zone map. The SSAHP for Site G contained a general discussion of the types of work zones established at the site and the kinds of activities that took place within each zone although the SSAHP... [Pg.197]

Despite the change of contractor progress was still painfully slow. Sam Brown, writing on behalf of the MAP, told the Treasury that ... [Pg.130]

Work began in June, 1941, but progress was very slow and it soon became obvious that there was no hope of finishing the job by the provisional completion date of 6 July, 1942. The first machine tools were installed in November, with full production achieved by May, 1943. Asked by the Treasury to account for the delay, the Minister of Aircraft Production explained that construction was overseen by contractors directly appointed by the MAP, which was not the usual practice. Such contracts were usually let by the appointed factory operator, but in this case, because no end user had been selected, responsibility fell upon the Ministry. Sir Alexander Gibb and Partners were contracted to superintend the project on the basis of costs plus 2,500 per annum. Gibb s... [Pg.277]

Contract companies do not work in isolation—they have organizational and physical interfaces with the operator of the offshore facility and with other contractors. Since each company will have its own SMS, bridging documents are needed. A bridging document is a map that links the relevant sections of the different standards. So, if the operator s plan calls for start-up procedures, then the bridging document would show where the same information is located in the contractors documents. Any gaps would be identified, and the contractor s program would be modified to ensure that it fits with the operator s requirements. [Pg.726]

Back at TU Delft, laboratory testing is performed, data is synthesised with archive data in maps, tables and graphs are interpreted. The feasibility report is written for an assortment of professionals, from investors, politicians, engineers, contractors and possibly lawyers, beneficiaries and land owners. [Pg.166]

By organizing maps in this manner there is no need for each contractor to make a separate map for each operator. [Pg.223]

Once the basic engineering scheme is completed, or even during its progression, data is gathered for cost estimates. Written quotes for pumps, equipment, valves, and cyclones are obtained from manufacturers. The contractors are requested to submit quotes for the pipeline based on surveys and contour maps. Prices for earthworks are calculated on a cost-efficient method or using excavation, load, haul, placement, and compaction fleet. It is very useful to use local costs for similar projects because the labor costs, customs and duties, and equipment leases change from country to country. [Pg.590]

Given that there are about 130 operators in the Gulf of Mexico alone and over 10,000 contractors (of aU types), the number of potential bridging documents over a million—obviously a totally unmanageable workload. One way of getting around this is for each company to map its program to the elements of SEMS, as shown in... [Pg.115]

The left side of Figure 5.1 shows how the Operator maps to SEMS the right is the same for the Contractor. This approach avoids having to create multiple maps for each Operator and Contractor. [Pg.174]
