Context multiple levels

The self-assembly of small molecules into complex material based on a multitude of different noncovalent interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, ionic interactions, hydrophobicity and metal coordination, has been established over the last century [2, 30, 38, 44-49]. In this context, the real power of self-assembly becomes evident when not only multiple noncovalent interactions but also multiple levels of self-assembly occur within the same small molecule system. These multiple tiers of self-organizational hierarchy can yield highly complex structures with sec-... [Pg.265]

An important extension of our large validation studies involves the use of data bases from field studies in the development of improved statistical methods for a variety of problems in quantitative applications of immunoassays. These problems include the preparation and analysis of calibration curves, treatment of "outliers" and values below detection limits, and the optimization of resource allocation in the analytical procedure. This last area is a difficult one because of the multiple level nested designs frequently used in large studies such as ours (22.). We have developed collaborations with David Rocke and Davis Bunch (statisticians and numerical analysts at Davis) in order to address these problems within the context of working assays. Hopefully we also can address the mathematical basis of using multiple immunoassays as biochemical "tasters" to approach multianalyte situations. [Pg.129]

In this section, I review concepts of inclusion in diverse organizations in the context of an emergent framework for the practice of inclusion that spans multiple levels of analysis and incorporates multiple voices and perspectives. [Pg.13]

Table 6.1 offers behavioral manifestations of inclusive leadership across multiple levels of system to demonstrate the importance of attending to each level simultaneously. The need to notice and make choices about what is happening in the midst of all this complexity creates a developmental challenge that requires individual and organizational capacity to tolerate and embrace uncertainty. This challenge arises within the individual, between people in relationships, and in the context of systems designed to support the active involvement of all individuals and groups. For leaders and practitioners who want to further develop their capacities for inclusive leadership, the third column offers additional resources to pursue. [Pg.191]

The use the triplet relationship from the outset of teaching in a range of contexts will enable abstract principles to emerge as unifying explanations in these contexts. The use of multiple contexts has been advocated, as has the use of meso-level representations in legitimating the learning of relevant concepts that are situated within such contexts, by Meijer et al. (2008). [Pg.344]

The ultimate goal of all scientists is to analyze their data thoroughly until they are sure that it is valid and to then analyze it in a more global context and discuss it with their colleagues. This workflow requires enterprise level IT tools that can effectively compare and correlate multiple HTS campaigns that generated millions of results from hundreds of thousands of compounds, recognize and chart trends and hierarchies of association and help the scientist visualize them, annotate them, and render the visualizations in media that can be used to share that vision with other members of the team. [Pg.63]

The CFD models considered up to this point are, as far as the momentum equation is concerned, designed for single-phase flows. In practice, many of the chemical reactors used in industry are truly multiphase, and must be described in the context of CFD by multiple momentum equations. There are, in fact, several levels of description that might be attempted. At the most detailed level, direct numerical simulation of the transport equations for all phases with fully resolved interfaces between phases is possible for only the simplest systems. For... [Pg.287]

In general, the different parties that interact with an object each have a separate view of its concerns. A context model should cover all external roles and interactions, at least at an abstract level, even if split across multiple collaborations. [Pg.612]

Fire behaviour of products constitutes a major and permanent preoccupation in multiple areas building and construction, transport, electric and electronic engineering, furniture, etc. This theme possibly involves the largest number of standards, regulations or legislations at national level as well at international level. It is in this context that the use of flame retardants for plastics must be envisaged. Several themes are outlined. [Pg.95]
