Characteristics of fraction I. The carbohydrate content of Fraction I was 84.4 %, in which the main component is D-galacturonic acid (71 %). Consequently, the polysaccharide is of a pectic type. The neutral sugars accounted for 13.4 % and according to their qualitative composition (Table 2) they correspond to the composition of pectin, isolated from sunflower heads (18). It is worth noting the high content of L-arabinose and D-galactose, compared with the other monosaccharides. The protein content was 7.8 %. [Pg.683]

A particularly good analytical tool to use in this experimental protocol is the phosphorus assay. Thus, if the total P content is known, the percent distribution in the various fractions can be obtained. For example, the P value of fraction I will relate back to the diacylglycerophosphocholine level. Then analysis of fraction II will allow calculation of the alkenylacylglycerophos-phocholine value. Finally the P content of fraction HI will reflect the al-... [Pg.120]

Methods of Analysis. Water Content of Fractions. A chromatographic method was employed using a glass column (6 ft x 0.2 mm ID) packed with Po-rapak QS. The chromatographs used were a Varian 3700 or a Hewlett Packard 5880. Water contents were also determined by the Karl Fisher method by Huffman Laboratories, Golden, Colorado. [Pg.142]

The NMR data confirm and amplify the IR data hydrogen-bonded protons are presented from phenolic and carboxylic groups in the coal and phenol groups added with the chemically combined phenol. The monoaromatic content (of fractions A and B especially) is high, also because of added phenol, but two-ring aromatic material also is present in all fractions (even triaromatic in C), which must have come from the original coal. The aliphatic material observed in the IR spectra of A, B, and C now is seen to consist principally of methylene bridges and short, branched aliphatic chains (a- and P-methyl predominate). [Pg.199]

The olefin and aromatic content of fractions of the liquid hydrocarbons increased with increasing boiling range of the fractions. Thus the 65-95° C. fraction contained 25% olefins, and no aromatics, and the 175-195° C. fraction contained 62% olefins and 31% aromatics. [Pg.138]

The hydrodynamic action increases the content of fraction II in C-1, but its activity in isoprene polymerization does not increase (Fig. 3.2). For C-2 the analogous change in the fractional composition is accompanied by an increased activity of fraction II (method 2). The addition of piperylene to C-3 results in a stronger effect on the activity of fraction II under the hydrodynamic action. The change of the hydrodynamic regime in the reaction zone does not affect the activity of fine particles of catalyst fraction III. Isoprene polymerization in the presence of fraction III always has a low rate and a cis-l,4-polyisoprene yield not exceeding 7-12%. [Pg.34]

In the presence of piperylene, the main distinction of function t t(lnP) relative to the distributions considered above is a significantly decreased area of the peak due to the active site of ty e B (Fig. 3.6). The decrease of the catalyst exposition temperature to -10°C (C-4, method 1) allows the complete elimination of active site oftyrpe B (Fig. 3.6). With allowance for the low content of fraction III, it may be concluded that, under these conditions, a single site catalyst is formed. In the case of the hydro-dynamic action on C-4, the particles of fraction II contain active centers of type C with some shift of unimodal curve v(i(lnP) to smaller molecular masses (Fig. 3.6). [Pg.39]
