Burt et al. (1998) developed the considerate and responsible co-worker CARE scale. The CARE scale measures an employee s attitudes toward safety and particularly their attitude toward the safety of their co-workers. As such, the items tend to use the word should. An employee who holds a positive and caring attitude toward safety should tend to agree with the items presented in the scale. A model examining a number of variables which are associated with CARE development is presented in Burt et al. (2008). Burt et al. (1998) reported a coefficients alpha of 0.91, and a test-retest reliability of 0.62 for the original 21 item Care scale (also see Burt 2001). Burt, Chmiel, and Hayes found an acceptable co-efficient alpha... 

The advantages of the dedicated Validation Program Coordinators are that employees in such a group are totally dedicated to (and responsible for) the computer validation effort. Interaction with production and quality assurance scheduling is important and must be taken into consideration. 

In order to prepare your employees to engage their safety creativity, safety and health professionals should set the table with consistent and positive reinforcement encouraging employee participation without fear of reprisal or embarrassment Employees should be encouraged to bring forward their ideas and concepts with the assurance that their idea or concept would be provided appropriate consideration and evaluation. This positive reinforcement should encourage each and every anployee to accept responsibility for his or her segment of the safety and health function while actively working to improve the safety and health function as a whole. 

Planning considerations. Assign responsibility for developing a training plan. Consider the training and information needs for employees, contractors, visitors, managers and those with an emergency response role identified in the plan. 

It is occasionally necessary for personnel to enter some of these facilities. This requires considerable time for decontamination and placement of local shielding. The operations that will be performed are carefully planned and rehearsed in order to get the entry over with as swiftly as possible. A special group of employees, the health physicists, are responsible for radiation safety throughout the plant, and they provide close monitoring of these entries. 

By far the most important consideration is that of safety. No company would wish to endanger either its employees or the public and any responsible company will invest considerable time, effort and money into ensuring that it does not do so.
