Model guidelines for the use of controlled substances for the treatment of pain are available. There is no statutory requirement to self-report potential violations of TSCA. However, if a company opts not to self-report, it cannot just continue to violate the law. It must stop that activity. In this respect TSCA is different from many other environmental programs that routinely require companies to self-report permit violations. Note, however, that consent agreements may impose self-reporting obligations, and all such obligations must be complied with. Similarly, other statutes and regulations may require self-reporting.
