Concept originators filing

Such a concept was originally used in a piocess developed and licensed by UOP under the name UOP Sorbex, The extent of commercial of Sorbcx processes is shown in fable 2. Other versions of file SMB... [Pg.41]

The concept of heat pipe was originally conceived by R. S.-Gaugler of the General Motors Corporation, who filed a patent application for it in... [Pg.610]

The original concept dates back to 1954-1956, when a patent filed by Intrusion-Prepakt (a company no longer in existence) described the use of a single auger to create a mixed-in-place pile. The results of one of the very early field projects is shown in Figure 6.2. The method was used only occasionally in the US, probably due to equipment limitations, but was developed further in Japan. Since 1967, both Japan and Scandinavia mounted intense research efforts, and the methods developed have been widely used in both those geographical areas. Widespread use in the US began after 1980. [Pg.110]

An easier way to automatically assign metadata is to create or upload data directly to a folder by using the context menu. In this case, all the metadata underlying the folder are automatically added to the entry. This a major difference from conventional file systems If a file is moved from one folder to another, the information that this file once belonged to the original folder is lost. This might be intentional but is not in the most cases. With the described metadata concept, this information is inherent to the file and will only change or drop out on explicit action of the operator. [Pg.317]

In natural language there are many ways of expressing the relations between concepts, for example by the order of words in a sentence, the use of prepositions and cases, by relative pronouns, etc. Since an author is free to choose between all these possibilities, at the time of formulating a query one cannot know which special syntactic tools were used in the texts being sought. Thus, if one wants to use relations between concepts as search parameters, special rules for representing them in the file must be established and consistently applied, independently of how these relations had been expressed in the original text. [Pg.429]

In many respects these semantic categories form the conceptual backbone of an information system, but in particular they can serve to define the relations between concepts on more than the merely superficial criteria of their casual arrangement in an original text. Then one can specify the syntactic device that is to be used to represent a particular kind of relation in the search file. For example, it can be agreed that segmentation or linkage is always to be used to represent the especially important relation between a substance and its properties. [Pg.429]

The original concept of the Web was that all types of documents should be available on it. This is achievable, but it presents some problems. It is clearly unreasonable to expect a browser to be able to display all the different file formats that already exist and all the new formats that might exist in the future. In addition, the majority of the documents on the Internet will not contain links to other... [Pg.342]
