Computers, Future needs

Read for reinforcement and future needs. Even if you only have 10 minutes, put your notes or a book in your hand. Your mind is similar to a computer you have to input data in order to have it processed. By reading, you are creating the neural connections for future retrieval. The more times you read something, the more you reinforce the learning of ideas. 

Computer programs permit forecasting present and future needs for private or public warehouses and break-bulk points and to determine their size and location. 

Molecular dynamics and its extension to fluid dynamics were the two main computational efforts, but a new version of IBMOL and of other codes had to be written once more. The IBM postdoctoral program was eventually extended also to Poughkeepsie site and later to the Kingston site, with full industrial IBM efficiency , namely, I had to prepare a yearly detailed research plan with inclusion of both permanent and temporary (the postdoctorals and the visitors) personnel, and since IBM was in a growth period, the expected yearly manpower increase My work was supposed to contribute to IBM understanding of the future needs in the scientific market for computer hardware and software this did imply for me close contacts with IBM Headquarters in White Plains and in Armonk, with Dr. Anderson and his staff, and a very active participation for me and for all my collaborators to many IBM scientific meetings, in USA and abroad, where IBM would announce and market his products. 

The future need to replace some parts of the system should be considered in the computer system desigm... 

As we discussed in Chapter 12, CPFR or just collaborative forecasting is the process of setting up a continual line of communication between you and those customers with the abihty to predict the future needs of the products they buy from you. Advances in electronic commerce have facilitated better communications between computer systems that has resulted in the development of electronic CPFR systems. Large retailers like Wal-Mart and Tesco are benefiting from sophisticated CPFR systems by electronic link with the major suppUers ERP and global supply chain systems. 

Future plants will have extra design and operational flexibility for anticipated future needs and technology development opportunities, such as various potential fuel design, fuel composition and loading options, load following, computing enhancements, etc. 

In spite of the three methods of estimating open question that needs to be investigated further in the future. The above expressions are order of magnitude estimates and not exact formulas.
