Competitive product introduction processes

The process defines what the enterprise has to deliver. The phases, the review points, and the technical and commercial deliverables are clearly defined, and the process aims to take account of market, product design, and manufacturing and financial aspects during each process stage. The skill requirements are defined, together with the necessary supporting tools and techniques. The process runs across the functional structure and includes customer and supplier representation. The PIM process is owned by a senior manager and each product introduction project is also owned by a senior member of staff. [Pg.4]

Many other cellulose dissolving and regeneration processes like cuprammonium rayon, which was the first process made available for manmade fibres and was already developed in the 1850s, or cellulose derivatives (like acetate) were in competition with the viscose process, but viscose proved to be superior based on process and product performance. Its booming period ended after World War 2 with the introduction of the synthetic competitive products, fir the last decade, the production has stabilised at approximately 2.7 million tormes worldwide (Europe 600000 tormes). [Pg.173]

Since the excited state of a given species is both a good donor and acceptor, both processes will be competitive. A steady-state photoelectrochemical current is generally only observed if the back electron transfer, between the ground-state product and the electrode, is prevented through the introduction of (typically... [Pg.53]

In 1985 the National Academy of Sciences of the United States published a landmark study Opportunities in Chemistry which mapped out some of the important discoveries in the field over the preceding 20 years. The very first point made in the Pimentel Report (named after the chairman of the study group) was that the successful competitiveness of the chemical industry depends critically on the constant improvements of existing processes and the introduction of new ones. Thus advances in chemical catalysis and synthesis hold the key to a successful chemical industry. Indeed they estimated that a large proportion ca. 20%) of the entire US Gross National Product is generated through the use of catalytic processes. [Pg.1]

Oftentimes, the deposition mechanisms between ALD and CVD are quite different, even for identical precursor combinations. In particular, it is well known that thin-film growth by CVD is heavily influenced by side reactions - not as problematic for ALD. A CVD process often generates reaction products such as CO, RH, or HCl that may be preferentially adsorbed onto the substrate surface. This will cause film-growth termination unless the competitive adsorbents are removed through purging with inert gas or introduction of a reducing gas such as H2. [Pg.198]
