COMPATIBILITY AND PERFORMANCE

Compatibility and solubility are characteristic properties of combinations of two or more materials. The fundamental studies of these properties are very important for solvents and plasticizers, and their results have been discussed in detail in monographic sources. -  [Pg.61]

Properties and performance of inorganic antiblocking additives are not affected by solubility but this is the only exception. Organic antiblocking, release, and slip additives perform in accordance with their solubility in systems into which they were incorporated. [Pg.61]

A selection of an additive would be simplified if theoretical prediction is possible and physical data required to make such prediction are available. The actual advancement of research on solvents and plasticizers does not allow to predict which polymer will be dissolved by which solvent or plasticizer, but it is possible to predict which solvents/plasticizers will not be capable of dissolving a particular polymer. Some results of similar studies are available for additives discussed here and they provide important insight into the behavior of these substances in multi-component systems as well as they show directions for further studies. [Pg.61]

Free energy of mixing, AG j,, is known indicator of mutual solubility of materials. It is given by the following equation  [Pg.61]

If two substances mix together, the free energy of mixing, is negative, [Pg.61]

These types of combustor-like reactors are unified by their overall design criteria, which include stability of reaction, wall compatibility, and performance. In the following, a description of the basic mechanism of the process and design rules for a reactor are provided. [Pg.646]

A change in the composition of packaging raw material or a change in formulation is considered a change in the specifications. Due care must be taken to guarantee the safety, compatibility, and performance of a new dosage form in a new packaging system. [Pg.179]

During the manufacture of CAP, the acetyl/propionyl ratio can be varied widely, but if the acetyl content is more than a few percent, the product loses solubility and compatibility and performs more like cellulose acetate. Thus, there are only two commercial grades of CAP a general-purpose coating and ink grade, CAP-482-0.5, and an alcohol-soluble product, CAP-504-0.2, which is useful in flexographic inks and overprints. [Pg.1064]

For data integrity, technologies like SQL may be deployed. Present-day SCADA is designed with open connectivity to external corporate databases, improving compatibility and performance. However, the security issues discussed in Chapter XI need special attention while developing an SCADA system. Live data, databases, and HMI configuration are broadcast in real time through one of two modes ... [Pg.908]
