Communication processes effectiveness factor

Implementing a recommendation must go beyond an equipment, process or procedural change. What was learned about an incident or near miss and its causes, as well as the changes made to prevent recurrence, needs to be effectively communicated to employees. As a result, they will have a greater understanding to better identify future near misses and the factors that could lead to a chemical reactivity incident at their facility. This will also encourage employees to report other near misses. 

Toxicity data are used to assess occupational exposure hazards associated with materials used in a process and are communicated through the use of Permissible or Occupational Exposure Limits (PEL or OEL). OELs are usually set based on a combination of the inherent toxicological hazard of a chemical and a series of safety factors such as intra-species variability in test results, the nature and severity of the effect, and the adequacy and quality of the information. It is widely accepted that rhizodeposition supports microbial communities that are more active and abundant in soil around roots than in non-rhizosphere soil. Such microbial communities are crucial to the functioning of the terrestrial ecosystem, not only for their direct effects on plant growth (through, for example, the release of growth factors) but also because they affect the C-flow from plant roots to soil, thus mediating the heterotrophically driven nutrient processes in soil by rhizodeposition (Badalucco and Nannipieri, 2007 Brimecombe et al., 2007 Uren, 2007).
