Commercial housing

Epoxidation using manganese salen complexes is very easy to carry out it occurs under aqueous conditions and commercial house bleach can be used as the oxidant. The results are similar to those reported in the literature Table 6.1 gives other examples of alkenes which can be epoxidized using the same procedure. This method gives good results, especially for disubstituted Z-alkenes but trisubstituted alkenes can be epoxidized as well. [Pg.93]

Chronic settled into a bimonthly rhythm, Homoside returned after more than two years absence. Mr Hyde and Slip played parties like these dedicated to progressive music, and other like-minded DJs came out of the woodwork. D Coy who for years had played commercial house to get club gigs, poured out her true passion for techno at Chronic. Mandrake who worked in a record shop and Chrissy from Playschool where the music never got hard played Homoside and Chronic as well. But neither of these events had openings for performance. And Billy didn t want to put on another party. The baton had in fact been passed to the boys who were still searching unsuccessfully for a venue. [Pg.142]

John Flack Winslow moved with his family at age five to Albany NY, where he was educated until age seventeen. He then entered a commercial house as a clerk. In 1832 he secured the management of the Boston agency of the New Jersey Iron Company. In 1833, he went into the iron industry on his own account and was engaged successfully in the pig iron production in Bergen and Sussex counties NJ. [Pg.999]

Amerigo Vespucci embraced a mercantile life at Florence, and was eventually taken into the great commercial house of the Medici, the head of which was Lorenzo Piero Francesco di Medici, who succeeded his father, Lorenzo the Magnificent, in 1492. The house had transactions in Spain, and required experienced agents at Cadiz. Amerigo, who was then over forty years of age, and Donato Niccolini were selected for this duty, and took up their residence at Cadiz and Seville in 1492. In December 1495, an Italian merchant, named Juanoto Berardi, died at Seville, and Vespucci was employed to wind up his affairs. This Berardi had contracted, on April 9th, 1495, to supply the Government with twelve vessels of 900 tons each for the Indies. He handed over the first four in the same... [Pg.12]

Along these same lines are geotextile-supported in situ liners used as vapor barriers. Table 11.4 lists current commercially available materials. Fig. 11.14 illustrates the application in commercial housing as a radon barrier. [Pg.251]

As the value of real estate continues to increase, developers have mmed to sites that have been previously deemed too difficult to develop owing to poor soil conditions and/or topography. These sites include soft soils that require ground improvement or removal and replacement with suitable soils. In urban areas, commercial housing has been developed on former industrial or brownfield sites. These sites require barriers below the proposed structures to separate potential contaminants and vapors from the soil or rock beneath them. [Pg.495]

Furthermore, most commercial housing developments have large garden areas at their entrances and throughout the development. In these applications, geotextiles provide a separation function between the soil and mulch as well and prevent weeds from growing in mulch beds. [Pg.506]

Applications of the technique have been discussed in various fields. Willis and Wheeler demonstrated the determination of the vinyl acetate (VA) distribution in ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers, the analysis of branching in high-density polyethylene (PE), and the analysis of the chemical composition of a jet oil lubricant. Provder et showed that in powder coatings all additives were positively identified by SEC-FTIR through comparison of the known spectra. Even biocides could be analyzed in commercial house paints. The comparison of a PS-PMMA blend with a corresponding copolymer gave information on the chemical drift. The analysis of a competitive modified vinyl polymer sample by SEC-FTIR showed that some of the components of the binder could be identified readily as vinyl chloride, ethyl methacrylate, and acrylonitrile, and an epoxidized drying oil additive was detected. [Pg.47]

The utilization of commercially available finite element packages in the simulation of routine operations in industrial polymer processing is well established. However, these packages cannot be usually used as general research tools. Thus flexible in-house -created programs are needed to carry out the analysis required in the investigation, design and development of novel equipment and operations. [Pg.288]

Strain development programs can mn into millions of doUars. This combined with the status of the strain in the overall process makes the strains extremely valuable and manufacturers rarely deposit useful cultures in one of the commercial coUections (14). Nevertheless, commercial coUections exist and are a very valuable, often used source of microorganisms that have shown some promise of producing smaU or minute quantities of products having real or possible commercial appHcations. These strains are often useful in augmenting in-house activities or as starters for a development program. [Pg.179]

Once the need for a LIMS has been justified, specifications have been written, and available vendors surveyed, the LIMS selection process begins. Each vendor s product must be evaluated for conformance to the specification and flexibiUty for future modifications. If an adequate solution is not available commercially, consideration must be given to constmcting a custom LIMS solution. This could be done in-house or by contractors. If the custom option is preferred, resources needed for future modifications and maintenance should be factored into the cost. [Pg.520]

Derivatiziag an organic compound for analysis may require only a few drops of reagent selected from silylatiag kits suppHed by laboratory supply houses. Commercial syathesis of penicillins requires silylatiag ageats purchased ia tank cars from the manufacturer (see Antibiotics, P-LACTAMS-penicillins AND others). [Pg.70]

The tank house is divided into commercial and stripper sections. In the latter, one-day deposits are prepared by electrorefining anode copper onto oiled copper, stainless steel, or titanium blanks. These copper sheets are stripped from the blanks and fabricated into starter sheets for the commercial sections as starting cathodes. After 9—15 days, depending on the tank house, hill-term cathodes are pulled and washed and either sent to the casting department or sold direcdy. [Pg.202]

Suberic Acid. This acid is not produced commercially at this time. However, small quantities of high purity (98%) can be obtained from chemical supply houses. If a demand developed for suberic acid, the most economical method for its preparation would probably be based on one analogous to that developed for adipic and dodecanedioic acids air oxidation of cyclooctane to a mixture of cyclooctanone and cyclooctanol. This mixture is then further oxidized with nitric acid to give suberic acid (37). [Pg.62]

The prices and mode of shipment for the various commercial grades of diacids are provided ia Table 4. The price of adipic acid is iacluded for comparison. In addition to these diacids, undecanedioic, brassyUc, tetradecanedioic, hexadecanedioic, docosanedioic, and tetracosanedioic acids ate available, expensive, and ia limited quantity from research chemical supply houses. [Pg.65]

Black, viscous residuum direc tly from the still at 410 K (390°F) or higher serves as fuel in nearby furnaces or may be cooled and blended to make commercial fuels. Diluted with 5 to 20 percent distillate, the blend is No. 6 fuel oil. With 20 to 50 percent distillate, it becomes No. 4 and No. 5 fuel oils for commercial use, as in schools and apartment houses. Distillate-residual blends also serve as diesel fuel in large stationaiy and marine engines. However, distillates with inadequate solvent power will precipitate asphaltenes and other high-molecular-... [Pg.2363]

With the availability of large contactors up to 1000 A and breakers up to 6400 A, DOL starting can be used for LT motors of any size, say, up to 1000 h.p. The use of such large LT motors is, however, very rare, and is generally not recommended. Since large electrical installations are normally fed from an HT network, whether it is an industry, residential housing, an office or a commercial complex, DOL switching, even when... [Pg.71]
