Collaborative commerce

While ECM and ERP II are similar in many ways, there are at least two key differences. First of all, Gartner doesn t identify a company as an ERP II vendor unless it provides traditional ERP capabilities, which has come under significant criticism [55] since these very ERP vendors have all but abandoned the ERP label as they recast themselves in the role of e-business providers. That leaves out vendors such as Siebel Systems, Ariba, and i2 who pioneered the B2B applications that spurred on the development of collaborative commerce. While Gartner recognizes that these vendors systems could potentially be used as part of an ERP II solution, they are not characterized as ERP II vendors. Meanwhile, ECM recognizes that multi-vendor ECM systems are likely and recognizes the B2B software vendors as part of ECM. At the UN World Summit in 2002, Responsible Care received the World Summit Business Award which the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) s organises in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). And, at the World Summit on Sustainable Development, Responsible Care was praised as an example of a successful global partnership.

If it were based on effort, the relationships should be stronger. There is no supply chain that has sponsored more industry programs to build value chain collaboration than the consumer-driven value chain. They were many. Over the last 10 years, there have been a myriad of programs to improve collaboration BCR, collaborative forecasting and replenishment, the Voluntary Inter-industry Commerce Solutions Association, and the Foundation for Strategic Sourcing Association. However, the industry has made little progress. There are four fundamental issues ...

To provide standardization and a consistent means of communication, several collaborative groups in the computing industry have attempted to define the structure and data elements of common business documents. Two examples are xCBL (XML Common Business Library) and cXML (Commerce XML). More recently, standards organizations have also attempted to create a unified standard. In 2001, OASIS, the XML interoperability consortium, created UBL. In its initial form, UBL incorporated the documents in the xCBL standard.
