This problem can be avoided by mounting utility outlets above the work benches. This method also has the advantage of keeping the benches clear of obstructions and easy to clean. Of course, exposed water pipes and electrical conduit do not have much esthetic value, and they are dust catchers as well. A coat of paint, however, both improves their appearance and makes cleaning easier. An even better solution is to box them in and cover them with removable panels. 

Roll coating of paint is the final process in a coil coating line. Roll coating is an economical method to paint large areas of metal with a variety of finishes and to produce a uniform and high-quality coating. The reverse roll procedure for coils is used by the coil coating industry, and allows both sides of the coil to be painted simultaneously. 

In order to act as a transducer optode must be attached to the optical fiber. Bulks (>1 mm) of sol-gel matrix can be easily glued to the fiber tip, especially, if the polymer fiber is used39. The smaller optodes can be attached to fiber end by dip-coating method or simply by direct painting of the fiber-tip with a liquid gel. 

Multipurpose tinting pastes usually contain pigment and hydrophilic solvents, sometimes some amount of water, and suitable wetting agents, which define the equilibrium between hydrophilic and lipophilic character. Conditions to be met in each case depend on the type of paste and on the method by which it is produced and also on the intended use of the coating or paint. 

Facilities that use small quantities of paint and a large variety of colors often purchase paint in small cans and containers (less than five gallons) for use in spray gun equipment. After emptying the can of paint into the spray gun s pressure pot, a coating of paint remains inside the can. Since these cans are seldom cleaned, the entire can must be discarded as waste. Also included in this waste stream should be outdated or leftover paint removed from storage. Source reduction methods for this waste stream include ... 

They furthermore assume, together with J. Bailer,52 54 that the blue pigmentation of the disinfestation chamber walls could be due to a coat of paint. To exclude this pigmentation from the analysis, they decided to apply a method which is insensitive to iron cyanides.

The effect of composition, the nature, and the ratios of the constituents on the properties of paints, are factors of utmost importance in paint formulations. An indication of likely service environment, life expectancy of the coatings, method of application, color, surface finish, drying time, and cost are also taken into consideration. All of this information. 

Direct roll coating method is used for coating thin-gauge sheets or coil stock. The sheet stock is fed between applicator rollers rotating in the same direction as the moving sheet. The apphcator rollers are fed by smaller pick-up rollers that are partially immersed in trays containing the paint. The coat sheet is subsequently fed into an oven for baking. 

A new N-halamine monomeric compound, hydantoin acrylamide (HA), was synthesised by forming a hydantoin ring from the ketone moiety of a secondary amide monomer, N-(l,l-dimethyl-3-oxobutyl)acrylamide (DA), which has been used for coatings and textile applications [76]. Amide and imide moieties of the hydantoin ring halogenate more easily than sterically hindered secondary amides this method can be used to impart antimicrobial properties to films, coatings or paint. HA can be copolymerised with many commercial monomers. 

An alternative method to inhibit atmospheric corrosion, in particular in outdoor applications, is to add corrosion inhibitors to surface coatings, especially paint films. Here the inhibitor reduces corrosion reactions, resulting from the residual permeability of the polymer film (see Chapter 5.4, this volume). 

The three basic corrosion control methods used in corrosion control of home appliances are (i) corrosion control by sacrificial anodes (ii) use of corrosion-resistant materials (iii) corrosion control by coatings and paint. 

Dip coating is one of the simplest and oldest coating methods. In addition to dipping in solvent- or waterborne paints, electrodeposition has become important for large-scale series production (Table 8.5). 

Other wet paint coating methods are summarized in Table 8.6. Application with a brush or roller is now only used to a great extent in the handicrafts sector, do-it-yourself sector, or on building sites.
