Coated iron jackets

Analysis of the nny 82 ammunition as previously detailed shows that it uses a mercuric corrosive primer. Analysis of the Chinese 351/73 ammunition revealed that it has a copper-coated iron-jacketed bullet with an iron core and a lead tip, the cartridge case is steel with a brown colored lacquered finish, a brass primer cup, and the propellant is single based with DPA, 2 x nitrodiphenylamines, camphor, and contains no inorganic additives, and the discharged primer composition is antimony, potassium, chlorine, mercury, tin, sulfur, iron, manganese, phosphorus, zinc, and lead in descending order (lead, antimony, mercury type). 

The pure acid is delivered by air pressure from the MCA receiver, through silver pipelines to a plastic-coated, tile-lined, steam-jacketed vessel, from which it flows to a totally enclosed cast-iron drum flaker. The feed tank and flaker are both vented to a chimney through a baffle box.

In SBSE, an iron stir bar (or a magnetic rod encapsulated in a glass jacket) is coated by a polydimethylsyloxane (PDMS) sorbent. The main difference between SBSE and SPME is the amount of sorbent used in both applications. In SBSE, the amount of PDMS coating oscillates between 55 and 300 pL, depending on the size of the stir bar, whereas in SPME the PDMS fiber coating is 0.5 pL for a 100 pm fiber thickness The stir bars are commercially available under the name Twister with two different sizes 10 mm x 3.2. e.d. (for sample volumes between 1-50 mL), and 40 mm x 3.2 mm e.d. (for samples volumes between 100-250 mL). Due to the larger amount of PDMS relative to the SPME fiber, this technique increases the recovery of analytes and therefore enhances sensitivity.
