Co salt

Reaction involves more than a single step. The relative thermal stabilities of the hexammine salts, as determined by the temperatures of onset of the reaction, are Cl" > Br for the cobalt compounds but Br" > Cl" > I" for the chromium compounds. When X = NOi, rapid oxidation developed into an exothermic explosive reaction of both the Cr and the Co salts. [Pg.233]

The ZwKKER reaction involving Co salts is frequently used for the detection of barbituric acid derivatives [31-35], but some purine, pyridine and piperidine derivatives and heterocyclic sulfonamides also yield colored derivatives. The Zwkker reaction is particularly sensitive when it is possible to form a tetrahedral complex [Co(Barb)2 Xj] (X = donor ligand, e.g. amine) [4]. [Pg.67]

In case of crystals of Cu-Dy composite formed under sonication, the concentration of dysprosium increased while in case of the crystals of Mn-Dy and Co-Dy composites, the concentration of dopant, Dy, decreased indicating a strong attraction of Dy for Cu compared to its weak interaction for Mn and Co ions. Nevertheless, the possibility of some of the Dy having been ejected out due to forceful cavitational effect of the ultrasound from the lattice of Mn and Co cannot be ruled out. Higher percentage of Cu, Mn, and Ce in case of Cu-Ce, Co-Ce and Mn-Ce composites, synthesized under sonication compared to normal crystals, could be attributed to the change in the composition of the lattice pattern due to the mechanical impact of ultrasound, whereas, such an effect has not been found in Co salts. These can be seen in Table 11.1. [Pg.298]

The molecule has been found to be an efficient electron carrier in electrochemical oxidation, converting secondary alcohols to ketones. Daicel of Tokyo has used NHPI in the development of custom production in proprietary air-oxidation technology , and it can also be used to oxidize cyclohexane to adipic acid and p-xylene to p-toluic acid in the presence of Mn + or Co + salts. The new process produces no nitrogen oxides, is more environmentally friendly and does not require the use of denitration equipment. [Pg.226]

It is worth noting that catalysts based on simple Co salts are also effective in polymerising norbornene to poly(2,3-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene)s interestingly, the polymers exhibited a very high molecular weight (Mw > 1600 x 103) and glass transition temperature (Tg = 380 °C) while being readily soluble in simple hydrocarbons such as cyclohexane [26],... [Pg.334]

Cyclohexane is oxidized to a ketone/alcohol (KA) mixture at 125 to 165 °C and 8 to 15 bar. The reaction is conducted in the liquid phase with air and Mn-or Co-salts as catalysts. Cyclohexyl hydroperoxide, the primary product of this... [Pg.375]

To recover the catalyst, BASF oxidizes CoH(CO)4 with oxygen to form water soluble Co " salts that are extracted and reduced under syngas to reform CoH(CO)4, while Exxon deprotonates CoH(CO)4 with aqueous NaOH to make Na[Co(CO)4]. [Pg.144]

Cobalt- rather than iron-based FT catalysts have been examined, in order to minimize the competing water-gas shift reaction, which would result in a lowered carbon efficiency. Most cobalt FT catalysts have been prepared by coprecipitation of Co salts with various promoters onto a slurried oxide support to afford mixed phase systems (J ). Reduction to the active catalyst was controlled by addition of various promoters (e.g. MgO, Th02, AI2O3) (2). In part, these promoters are necessary to maintain good metal dispersion in the catalyst and resistance to sintering. Dispersion... [Pg.129]
