Chemical pigments

The most commonly measured pigment properties ate elemental analysis, impurity content, crystal stmcture, particle size and shape, particle size distribution, density, and surface area. These parameters are measured so that pigments producers can better control production, and set up meaningful physical and chemical pigments specifications. Measurements of these properties ate not specific only to pigments. The techniques appHed are commonly used to characterize powders and soHd materials and the measutiag methods have been standardized ia various iadustries. [Pg.4]

Chemical pigments or synthetics may be metal compounds. A good example is white titanium dioxide. Other chemical pigments include cadmium sulfide colors, iron blue, and several synthetic versions of iron oxides. [Pg.338]

PEBBLE MILL. A jacketed steel cylinder rotating on a horizontal axis and containing flint or porcelain pebbles as the grinding medium. Its operation is similar to that of a ball mill. It is used for grinding and mixing of dry chemicals, pigments, food products, and the like. Pebble mills are usually lined with alumina, buhrsione, or similar material to protect the walls from wear. [Pg.1220]

Pure metallic Sb is not used in industry because it is very brittle however, alloys of Sb are used in a number of fields of technology. For example, addition of Sb to lead, tin, and copper increases the hardness of these metals when used as electrodes, bullets, type metal for printing, and ball bearings. Other uses include fire-resistant chemicals, pigments, and dyes. [Pg.1375]

The Arlington Co., manufacturer of pyroxylin plastics, lacquers, and enamels, was acquired in 1915. The following year Fairfield Rubber Co. (rubber-coated fabrics) was purchased. The purchase of Harrison Brothers and Co. (1917) added acids, heavy chemicals, pigments, dry colors and paints to the growing list of products. [Pg.287]

We wish to acknowledge and thank Sun Chemical Pigment Division for their valuable assistance throughout. We would also like to thank Rushi Amin who conducted much of the preparatory work. Finally, we wish to acknowledge the support of the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program for their financial support of this work. [Pg.78]

This study was made possible by the combined efforts of several groups within Sun Chemical Pigments Division. We wish to extend special thanks to the Plastics Group Technical Service Representatives, Dee Eichenlaub, Jim Krouse and Debra Waller for their contributions. Finally we would like to thank our customers, who have provided valuable information on their test methods and feedback on our study. [Pg.184]

Nitration reactions are among the basic reactions used in chemical synthesis, and have remained indispensable for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, pigments, explosives and precursors for polymers. [Pg.575]
