Chemical Abstracts Service individual numbers

Chapter 21 contains four indices to allow easy access to specific agents in this handbook. These indices are the Alphabetical Index of names, the Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) numbers index, the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) numbers index, and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) agent numbers index. These indices contain synonyms and identifying numbers for the agents in this handbook that are cross-referenced to the individual agents via the handbook number. 

The diversity of chemical structures in the polymer chains is characterized by the incorporation of eleven different chemical elements. Each polymer is identified by its chemical name. Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number, synonym or commercial (trade) name, source, sample form (including the sample-preparation technique for IR measurements), representative molecular structure, general formula, comments, filenames of individual compounds spectra, and the entry numbers in our database. 

The name of each toxic chemical and the associated Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) registry number of each chemical if applicable. (CAS numbers are not used for chemical categories, since they can represent several individual chemicals.)... 

CAS registry number An identifying numberi ng system for chemicals called the Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) with individual numbers assigned by the American Chemical Society. CAS numbers identify specific chemicals and are assigned sequentially. Such a number is a concise and unique means of material identification. 

To gather this information, we relied primarily on SciFinder Scholar to search for key words, topics, or authors in the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) database. SciFinder searches CAS s CAplus, which is their main database of abstracts of journal articles and other literature. The search task was not straightforward. Whereas abstracts of individual articles are often long and detailed, the descriptions of books are minimal. Most unfortunately, individual chapters in many multiauthored books have not always been well abstracted by CAS often the chapters are listed with little more than the number of references cited. 

In the Guideline, a compound list will be added with Individual organic compounds including chemical abstract service (CAS) registry numbers. This list is compiled from experimental data on the presence of compounds found in biomass producer gases from updraft, downdraft and fluidised bed gasification. 

The METLIN metabolite database is implemented using the open-source software tool, MySQL. Most compounds are annotated with both a chemical formula and structure. Individual metabolite is linked to outside resources such as the KEGG, Human Metabolome Database (HMDB), and the respective PubChem database entries through the included numbers of KEGG, HMDB, and Chemical Abstract Service (CAS), respectively. This kind of linkage makes it easy for the researchers to find further references and inquiries about the metabolite.
