Chemical Abstracts Decennial

Chemical Abstracts, Decennial Indexes, under Acid-Resistant Materials and Sealing Compositions 8)M.H.Sandler, "Second Report on the Development of a Fuming Nitric Acid Resistant Paint," AberdeenPG, Md, Project No. TB4-006D 593 32/006(1958)... [Pg.93]

A specimen check sheet of this sort is shown in Figure 1. In this instance the references in a volume of Chemical Abstracts are listed in approximately numerical order. Such a sheet can usually be easily expanded to contain all the references noted in a cumulative index, such as the Chemical Abstracts Decennial Index. [Pg.248]

Chemical Abstracts. These were commenced by the American Chemical Society in 1907. The abstracts are very comprehensive (particularly in recent years) from the standpoint of subject matter and journals covered. Four decennial indexes have appeared—1917, 1927, 1937 and 1947—and these are widely used for locating information pub lished during the period 1907-1947. The annual indexes cover the period 1948 to date. [Pg.1128]

For more comprehensive lists, see the various lists of radicals given in the subject indexes of the annual and decennial indexes o/Chemical Abstracts. [Pg.51]

Some of the commercial uses that pseudoureas have found are herbicides [27, 28] inhibitors for discoloration of color photographic layers [29] monomers for the preparation of some novel copolymers [30, 31] and dyes [32,33]. A survey of the recent decennial indexes of Chemical Abstracts should be made to see the large number of pseudoureas reported for varied uses. Pseudothioureas have also been found useful as radiation protective agents [34]. [Pg.92]

Chemical Abstracts, published semimonthly by the American Chemical Society, can be used for comprehensive literature surveys on chemical processes and operations. This publication presents a brief outline and the original reference of the published articles dealing with chemistry and related fields. Yearly and decennial indexes of subjects and authors permit location of articles concerning specific topics. [Pg.19]

The period from 1929 to the present date may be covered by the use of the abstract journals, Chemical Abstracts and Chemisches Zentralblatt. The latter was considerably superior to the former until 1939, when the war prevented the Chemisches Zentralblatt staff from receiving many of the journals which were published. From that time to the present, Chemical Abstracts is quite satisfactory, and there is little need to use the German abstract journal. Both journals are provided with subject and formula indexes (although the latter are not always reliable for Chetnical Abstracts, whereas they are excellent in Chemisches Zetitralblatt), from which the desired compound may be located. Chetttical Abstracts also has a Decennial Index, the fourth of which covers 1937-1946, and the fifth, 1947-1956. [Pg.254]

It is here that we find one of the greatest needs for a suitable nomenclature or classification for analytical methods. As an illustration, we may consider the fourth decennial index of Chemical Abstracts. Under the heading, Nickel, detn., there are 70 entries and under the subheadings, detn., in iron, in iron and steel, and in steel, there are, respectively, 7, 14, and 59 entries. Table I shows the nature of the information found in the index and in the title and annotation for the 150 abstracts. [Pg.73]

Chemical Abstracts 200) is usually the first choice. World-wide coverage of chemical aspects of natural fibers, and annual and decennial subject and author indexes are among its valuable features. It is interesting to note the first issue in 1907 contained a section entitled Dyes, Bleaching and Textile Fabrics. The late L. A. Olney was in charge of this section, a post he held until his untimely death in 1949. [Pg.178]

The practical use of Chemical Abstracts is that with its aid it is possible through the author index to trace any work by a given author, through the decennial and annual subject and formula indexes to trace the literature on any chemical element, compound... [Pg.75]
