Additionally, the lEE professional development function is exploring the possibility for Chartered Engineers in the regions to take on mentees who lack company support. There are still some reservations about ethical issues in these relationships - for example, mentors who might work for competitors of the mentee s company. This new lEE Mentoring Network will offer candidates an opportunity to find a trained mentor who is outside their immediate work place. Fans Tarlochan is currently holding the position of Professor and Program Coordinator in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Qatar University. He is a Fellow with the Institution of Mechanical Engineering UK and a registered Chartered Engineering with the Engineering Council of UK.

Professor Hilal is the editor-in-chief for the international journal Desalination, is on the editorial boards of a number of international journals, and is a manber of the advisory boards of several multinational organizations. He is a registered European Engineer, a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom, and a feUow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Hilal has carried out extensive consultancy for industry, government departments, research councils, and universities on an international basis. 

Neil White holds a personal chair in the school of electronics and computer science. University of Southampton. He has been active in sensor development since 1985. In 1988 he was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton. He has considerable experience in the design and fabrication of a wide variety of sensors, formulation of novel thick-film sensing materials and intelligent sensor systems. Professor White is director and co-founder of the University of Southampton spin-out-company Perpetuum Ltd. He has over 200 publications in the area of instrumentation and advanced sensor technology. His professional qualifications include chartered engineer, fellow of the lET, fellow of the lOP, chartered physicist and senior member of the IEEE. 

He has delivered many health and safety courses and is a manager of NEBOSH courses at the Cornwall Business School. He is currently an inspector for the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education. Ed is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of lOSH.
