Cell proliferation fixation

DNA repair is known to protect cells from fixation of DNA damage in the newly synthesized DNA strand as heritable mutations, thereby generating the situation of a race between repair and proliferation-dependent DNA synthesis (Figure lb). It is not a matter of debate that DNA repair can effectively reduce tumor incidence. [Pg.488]

In an other hand, by nitrosylation of p53 protein NO prevents its fixation on specific sites of regulatory DNA region, then removing the control of cell proliferation in MCF7 cells (human mammary cancer cell) [114]. [Pg.924]

Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) incorporation is commonly used for the analysis of cell proliferation (Fig. 3B). The explants are labeled by adding BrdU 0.5-3 h before fixation (we use cell proliferation kits from Amersham International, Little Chalfont, UK, or Boehringer-Mannheim, Mannheim, Germany). After fixation in ice-cold methanol, the explants are washed in PBS and immunostained as whole mounts using antibodies against BrdU (12). [Pg.29]

In order to achieve the firm fixation of the artificial cornea to host tissues, composites of collagen-immobilized poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel with hydroxyapatite were synthesized by a hydroxyapatite particles kneading method. The preparation method, characterization, and the results of corneal cell adhesion and proliferation on the composite material were studied. PVA-COL-HAp composites were successfully synthesized. A micro-porous structure of the PVA-COL-HAp could be introduced by hydrochloric acid treatment and the porosity could be controlled by the pH of the hydrochloric acid solution, the treatment time, and the crystallinity of the HAp particles. Chick embryonic keratocyto-like cells were well attached and proliferated on the PVA-COL-HAp composites. This material showed potential for keratoprosthesis application. Further study such as a long-term animal study is now required [241]. [Pg.163]
