Catch point

Obstructions, like items protmding from storage racks, door frames, and suspended light fixtures, can extend into the potential operating zone of a materials handling vehicle and create catch points or introduce other hazards. 

Do the gloves present a hazard of catch points on the tool or in the workplace ... 

It should be emphasized that isomerization is by no means the only process involving chemical reactions in which spectroscopy plays a key role as an experimental probe. A very exciting topic of recent interest is the observation and computation [73, 74] of the spectral properties of the transition state [6]—catching a molecule in the act as it passes the point of no return from reactants to products. Furthennore, it has been discovered from spectroscopic observation [75] that molecules can have motions that are stable for long times even above the barrier to reaction. 

Unless a material discharges freely, cleaners are required on belt conveyors and may be helpful on others. Common types use a rotating brush, powered from the convevor head-pulley shaft or independently, or a spring-mounted blade. The latter is applicable only at some point where the belt conveyor lies reasonably flat. Whenever cleaners are used, provision should be made for catching and chuting the material back into the main discharge stream or to a collecting container which can be periodically emptied. 

When solution must be pumped, consideration should be given to use of holding tanks between the dry feed system and feed pumps, and the solution water supply should be controlled to prevent excessive dilution. The dry feeders may be started and stopped by tank level probes. Variable-control metering pumps can then transfer the alum stock solution to the point of application without further dilution. Means should be provided for calibration of the chemical feeders. Volumetric feeders may be mounted on platform scales. Belt feeders should include a sample chute and box to catch samples for checking actual delivery with set delivery. Gravimetric feeders are usually furnished with totalizers only. Remote instrumentation is frequently used with gravimetric equipment, but seldom used with volumetric equipment. 

The design of inherently safe process plant is discussed by Kletz in a booklet published by the Institution of Chemical Engineers, Kletz (1984) and Keltz and Cheaper (1998). He makes the telling point that what you do not have cannot leak out so cannot catch fire, explode or poison anyone. Which is a plea to keep the inventory of dangerous material to the absolute minimum required for the operation of the process. 

Chronological Age. Because of this wide variation within the elderly population, it is difficult to devise a catch-all age one must attain to be considered elderly. Within the government, there also appears to be a problem of consistently defining this age group. Table 2, which lists a variety of federally funded programs and their corresponding age criteria, illustrates this point quite well. Table 3 lists what seems to be one of the better classification systems that has been devised [5], As well as being the system currently used by the U.S. Bureau of the Census, it is often implemented in studies that specifically deal with elderly populations [6,7]. 

This latter point was stressed by some of us in a recent report studying NO storage and reduction on commercial LSR (lean storage-reduction) catalysts, in order to catch valuable information about the behaviour of typical NO storage materials in real application conditions. Nature, thermal stability and relative amounts of the surface species formed on a commercial catalyst upon NO and 02 adsorption in the presence and in the absence of water were analysed using a novel system consisting of a quartz infrared reactor. Operando IR plus MS measurements showed that carbonates present in the fresh catalyst are removed by replacement with barium nitrate species after the first nitration of the material. Nitrate species coordinated to different barium sites are the predominant surface species under dry and wet conditions. The difference in the species stabilities suggested that barium sites possess different basicity and, therefore, that they are able to stabilize nitrates at different temperatures. At temperatures below 523 K, nitrite species were observed. The presence of water at mild temperatures in the reactant flow makes unavailable for NO adsorption the alumina sites [181]. 

Another limitation is perhaps not so much a limitation as, perhaps, a strange characteristic, albeit one that can catch the unwary.
