Castings material requirements

The RTV rubbers find use in the building industry for caulking and in the electrical industry for encapsulation. It also provides a useful casting material for craft work. Perhaps most important of all it provides a method for producing rubbery products with the simplest of equipment and can frequently solve a problem where only a small number of articles are required. [Pg.836]

In open-mold casting, the shape of the desired object is carved as a "negative" depression or hollow into a suitable bulk of material that withstands the temperature required for the process wood is often used for cold casting molds stone, sand, and dry mud, for hot casting. The fluid casting material is then poured into the carved depression, where it is left to set and from which, when solid, it is finally removed. [Pg.191]

Pressure containing casings made of wrought materials or combinations of wrought and cast materials shall conform to the conditions specified in 2.11.3.4.1 through 2.11.3.4.4. These requirements do not apply to casing nozzles and auxiliary connections (see 2.3.2 and 2.3.3). [Pg.40]

These two factors are interrelated, as the material needs to be processed before the evaluation can be carried out. Successful casting may require adjustments to the mold, processing conditions, and postcuring operations. Dimensional testing should be carried out at this point to check the need for any mold alterations that may be required. [Pg.164]

The industrial fabrication of electronic devices containing perovskite-type metal oxides traditionally involves the preparation of powdered materials which are then cast as required. However, there is great interest at the research level in developing techniques for thin film deposition and in this section we consider the use of CVD methods. [Pg.824]

A few years ago, most terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules were assembled by casting the cells in a transparent silicone substance, using a metal substrate for support. When this approach was reviewed by the Flat-Plate Solar Array Project (FSA), development was begun on new materials that would reduce the cost and quantity of material required for encapsulation. [Pg.407]

Many non-ferrous castings are used in an as-cast condition, but certain applications require higher mechanical properties than as-cast material. Possible treatments are annealing, controlled cooling, solution heat treatment, artificial ageing and precipitation treatment. [Pg.90]

Epoxy resins are widely used as adhesives, surface coatings, encapsulates and casting materials. They are used in industrial tooling applications to produce moulds, master models, laminates, castings, fixtures, and other industrial production aids. This plastic tooling replaces metal, wood and other traditional materials, and generally improves the efficiency and lowers the overall cost or shortens the lead-time for many industrial processes. Epoxy resins are extensively used as a binder for marine paints, which is required to protect the naval structure from the corrosive marine environment. [Pg.180]
