An immensely useful resource that I have used extensively in recent years is Science Direct (http // www.sciencedirect.com). This provides access to all of the journals published by Elsevier. There is a good search facihty to allow relevant articles to be found. It is also possible to put oneself on an e-mail list to be sent the list of contents of selected journals as they are published -that alone has saved me many a wasted journey to the hbrary Non-registered users only have access to the article abstracts, but full copies can be bought on-line by using a credit card. Persons registered, personally, through their place of work or university, have full download access to. pdf files of the full articles. The facility is pricey, hut it does display author s contact e-mail addresses to allow you to make a request for a copy in the time-honoured fashion. [Pg.348]

This appendix contains a potpourri of miscellaneous information that may be needed occasionally. [Pg.250]

If some fields may be empty in the sublevels, all the fields in the main level are required for each entry. A new chiral separation record can be added in CHIRBASE solely if the authors correctly identify both sample and CSP. Since the beginning of the project, our policy has been to contact the authors of all publications containing incomplete, ambiguous or inconsistent data and to ask for additional information. Providing the separations with unique case numbers helps us considerably in this essential task, and also facilitates avoiding redundancies in the database. When chiral separations are reported for the second time in a new publication with exactly the same chromatographic conditions, this is stated in a footnote added in the field comments . In this field, miscellaneous information that cannot appear elsewhere are listed (detection limit, description of a reported chromatogram, racemization study, mobile phase limitations, etc.). [Pg.98]

It should be clear, however, that a certain amount of overlap between these three classes is unavoidable, not only because the categorization of chemistry often leads to oversimplification, but also because the above categories have been set up without any support from mechanistic studies. Often partition has been made only on the basis of the small amount of miscellaneous information which is presently known about the experimental conditions and the kind of reagents employed in each case. [Pg.107]

Markets and Miscellaneous Information Methanol is methyl alcohol and at the present 99% of the production of methanol in the world is produced either from natural gas or gases out of oil. The reformed gas is compressed and passed to a methanol reactor. Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide react with hydrogen over a catalyst to produce methanol. Also it is possible to produce methanol and ammonia... [Pg.39]

Process control systems and instrumentation can be described in several ways. Flowsheets show the process equipment, instruments, and control systems, as well as interconnections, such as piping and electrical and pneumatic transmission lines. More detailed flowsheets are referred to as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P IDs), They include additional information, such as valve characteristics, piping details (e.g., pipe sizes and fittings), and miscellaneous information, such as drains, vents, and samphng fines. Both types of diagrams are widely used in the process industries. [Pg.499]
