Cartridge filters foams

MEA systems foam rather easily resulting in excessive amine can y over from the absorber. Foaming can be caused by a number of foreign materials such as condensed hydrocarbons, degradation products, solids such as carbon or iron sulfide, excess corrosion inhibitor, valve grease, etc. Solids can be removed with cartridge filters. Hydrocarbon liquids aie usually removed in the flash tank. Degradation products are removed in a reclaimer as previously described. 

Recommended Method airborne particles collected on a sorbent cartridge containing polyurethane foam particulates deposited on the filter extracted with methylene chloride extract analyzed by GC-FID or GC/MS recommended air flow 5 L/min sample volume 1000 L.

The collection of PAHs from air for quantification requires special considerations. Some of the PAHs, especially those with lower molecular weights, exist primarily in the vapor phase while PAHs with higher molecular weights exist primarily in the particulate phase (Santodonato et al. 1981). Therefore, a combination of a particulate filter (usually glass-fiber filter) and an adsorbent cartridge (usually XAD-2 or polyurethane foam) is used for the collection of PAHs (Andersson et al. 1983 Harvath 1983 Hawthorne et al. 1993). Therefore, collection methods that use either a filtration system or an adsorbent alone may be incapable of collecting both particulate and vapor phase PAHs. In addition, a few PAHs are known to be susceptible to oxidation by ozone and other oxidants present in the air during the collection process (Santodonato et al. 1981). 

Nitropropane may be decomposed by the activated carbon used in cartridge respirator filters do not use this kind of respirator if high vapor concentrations are present. On small fires, use dry chemical powder (such as Purple-K-Powder), foam, or COj extinguishers.

Thick media cartridges can then be made by fixing a layer of plastic foam to a perforated core. A major alternative use is the formation of coarse ceramic foams, as discs, to be used as filters in the removal of contaminants from molten metal.
