Care bundles

There were, however, some convincing examples of major improvements within the run chart data collected locally some of the data capture was clearly both sustained and controlled (Box 19.4). For instance, patients received correctly timed antibiotics before surgery and the introduction of a care bundle in one site significantly reduced the incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia. In patients on mechanical ventilation, the cumulative risk of pneumonia increases with the duration of ventilation. This infection has serious potential complications and a high mortality rate, so improvement in the reliability of the care delivered has important implications. [Pg.384]

A care bundle is the term used for a group of evidence based clinical practices that, when used on their own, are shown to improve care, but when applied together they result in substantially greater improvements. The challenge for healthcare is to apply these best practices reliably on every patient who needs them, every day, measuring comphance and monitoring the outcome. [Pg.384]

The first four practices are backed by strong evidence in all four it is clear what should be done but in practice, as we have so often seen, it does not happen. The programme introduced care bundles and other tools to increase reliability in these areas. Medicines reconciliation essentially means making... [Pg.385]

U-Tube U-Bundle Only one tube sheet required. Tubes bent in U-shape. Bundle is removable. High temperature differentials which might require provision for expansion in fixed tube units. Clean service or easily cleaned conditions on both tube side and shell side. Horizontal or vertical. Bends must be carefully made or mechanical damage and danger of rupture can result. Tube side velocities can cause erosion of inside of bends. Fluid should be free of suspended particles. 1.08... [Pg.25]

In a first step towards the design of / -peptides tyligomers (oligomers that fold into predictable tertiary structures [8]), carefully controlled interhelical hydrophobic interactions have been utilized to stabilize a / -peptide two-helix bundle (92) [179] (Fig. 2.17). [Pg.62]

Annotate each type and collaboration with a summary of what its instances represent. Be careful to make it clear which real-world objects and events are included. For example, does a Customer include all the people we have ever sent brochures to, or is it only people we ve actually done business with Is a separate check-out deemed to have occurred for each separate video, or is a bundle of four (with one free) a single check-out ... [Pg.225]

After subsidence of temperature following initial exotherm, the fiber bundle with the partially cured pot is removed from the mold for fiber end exposure. The mechanical integrity of the potted end in this green state must be sufficiently great to permit careful handling and insertion in the machine necessary for fiber-epoxy excision. [Pg.378]

Careful work is necessary to remove all preferred orientation from powder samples. Figure 1 shows results obtained with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers. Curve is a typical azimuthal scan of the 010 peak (20 = 17,5°) for a bundle of parallel fibers placed perpendicularly to the x-ray beam. Curve b is the same scan carried out on a "powder" sample, showing that all preferred orientation is removed in our conditions of moulding (350 kg/ m2). For each kind of fiber, it is necessary to do preliminary trials to find the best experimental conditions. For PET fibers, we show on Figure 2 the relative crystallinity index and the residual orientation plotted against the cut-lengh. (5). [Pg.195]
