Capable-to-promise

Finally, an interesting trend in supply-chain management is improving business practices by providing capabilities to improve service for customers. One such concept is capability to promise. The idea is not just to ensure that the product is available, but that the supply chain is capable of delivering the product. This involves, for instance, capability to rapidly change the schedule to accommodate the customer order and interact with the active plant schedule. Such a system was developed at Celanese Fibers, which is integrated with a Customer Order System and enabled via a Web browser. [Pg.89]

The third component of APS is order promising, which lies at the center of the transaction-based aspect of APS systems. This component is designed to suggest realistic promise dates for customer orders. The process, sometimes referred to as capable-to-promise (CTP), involves testing the customer s request date for feasibility and, if the date cannot be met, calculating the earliest date that it can be met. Silica-based materials obtained by the sol-gel process are perhaps the most promising class of functional materials capable to meet such a grand objective. The activation of allenes is a rather new, but particularly promising area of gold catalysis.381,400 The first example for such a transformation is the cycloisomerization of allenic ketones 480 to furans 482 which probably occurs via intermediate 481 (Scheme 147). Hashmi et /.401,401a showed that this reaction proceeds much faster when gold(m) chloride in acetonitrile is employed as the precatalyst instead of the traditionally used silver salts (cf. The products are usually contaminated by substituted furans originating from a Michael addition of aurated 482 to the substrates 480, thereby indicating that the gold catalyst is also capable to activate C-H bonds of furans. [Pg.573]
